SCA AUSCAR along with other AUSCAR and Sportsman owners will be appearing at the Winton Festival of Speed from July 23 to 26 2026 plus many other racing categories will be there too.

SCA President Troy Perichon worked hard on getting as many of the SCA AUSCAR field as possible as well as those not part of SCA AUSCAR but own either an AUSCAR or a Sportsman.

Past efforts to get an AUSCAR and Sportsman contingent to the Winton Festival of Speed had struggled as there were not a whole lot of track ready cars out there.

The numbers of track ready cars started to increase from 2023 when Troy Perichon and Lukas Gates raced at Calder Park Raceway, the #71 (the #7 Ford Falcon) AUSCAR went from display duties to racing duties that same weekend to boost the number to three, Jamey Hollier soon brought the #71 from Troy, Chris Robinson started to race the #54 Ford Falcon, Brad Lighton started racing the #26 Holden Commodore and Colin Matton was racing the #2 Holden Commodore.

While there was some sceptics about the 2026 effort, the chances of a field being at Winton were always high, it just came down to availability and this year there were plenty of available cars to participate in the event.

Let’s take you through the cars and the drivers that people will see at the 2026 edition of the Winton Festival of Speed.

Troy will be driving his #6 Ford Falcon; this car is an AUSCAR, Sportsman and SCA race winner, it had its start with Jim Richards and then had great success with Eddie Abelnica in Sportsman competition.

Duncan Brown will be driving the #02 Ford Falcon; this car was the ex-Tony Howlett Sportsman that was later owned by Brad Hall.

Jamey Hollier will be driving his #71 Ford Falcon at the event; Jamey is the defending SCA AUSCAR champion and this car was previously driven by Rodney Jane before it served as a track car at One Raceway.

Jamey Hollier had a hand in building quite a number of the cars that you saw racing at the Thunderdome in the 1980s and 1990s, he also raced in Sportsman putting his #35 XF Falcon in pole position six times and won on the Thunderdome nine times and a tenth win was on the raceway.

Jamey also had a go in AUSCAR in the #15 Ford Falcon, that car was built by Jamey along with Stuart Stancombe, it was raced by Mike Oliver as the #38, the car ended up with Jamey, became the #15 and it then went to Jason Morrell as the #77, he was Rookie of the Year and the car had a number of owners over the years before it ended up with Cole Davis, you’ll be seeing it as the #38 sometime in the future.

Brad Hall will be driving the #09 Ford Falcon; it is one of two Sportsman vehicles that will be on the track for the special weekend.

The #09 was driven by Andrew Gillespie, Andrew won twice on the Thunderdome in Sportsman and had one pole position at the track.

Eddie Woods will be driving the #55 Holden Commodore; this car has been eagerly awaited since its restoration was announced and hopefully, we will see it regularly in the future.

Eddie raced AUSCAR for many years and led attempts in the mid 2000s to get the AUSCARs back on the track.

Lukas Gates will be at Winton in the #22 Holden Commodore, it is always good to see this car in action and if it does rain at Winton, it will do very well there just like Lukas had done in those miserable Calder Park conditions last November.

Brad Lighton will be driving his well-presented #26 Holden Commodore; the car made a statement in the past and it continues to make one in the present.

The car is almost exactly like it was when the #26 was driven by Jason Wyllie in the mid to late 1990s.

Brendan O’Connor will also be there; he drives either the #10 Ford Falcon or the #10 Chevrolet Silverado in Stock Cars Australia and will be driving the Falcon at Winton.

The call for AUSCAR and Sportsman vehicles continues, SCA AUSCAR is looking for more drivers and their cars to join Stock Cars Australia, the third round of the 2026 Australian Stock Car Championship will be held at Winton on August 29 and 30 followed by the season finale at Calder Park Raceway on November 14 and 15.

If you have a car and you are interested in participating in the rest of the 2026 season or running at tracks like Sydney Motorsport Park, One Raceway, Winton and Calder Park Raceway in 2027 contact Troy Perichon.

If you also have an AUSCAR or a Sportsman that you would like to sell, contact Troy, Stock Cars Australia or us and we’ll help you out, we have a Vehicles for Sale page where we’ll put your car in for free and put it in the weekly ASCN edition until sold.

Perhaps you’ve got an AUSCAR or a Sportsman that you want to race in the future but need assistance in getting it complete, ask, you never know, help could be close by to you.

SCA AUSCAR is growing and there is more to come, and we’ll be here to give the news to you as it happens.
