There are 36 days to go until Round 3 of the Australian Stock Car Championship is held at Winton Raceway (August 29-30), no entries are displayed at this time but that is not unusual as it is usually the last 2-3 weeks that the site starts filling up with entrants in all categories.
The SCA AUSCAR field has made an early trip to Winton to participate in the 2026 edition of the Winton Festival of Speed that started yesterday and ends on the 26th, they will be there along with other AUSCAR and Sportsman owners as well as many other racing categories.
This event is well covered as SCA and Brad Burgess have provided fans with regular updates, so nothing is missed.
The AUSCARs and Sportsman’s are in the ‘Apex Steel Touring Car Legends’ field, first practice was held this morning with Brad Lighton second fastest, Lukas Gates in sixth, Eddie Woods in eighth, Alex Hollier in ninth, Brad Hall was in eleventh, Colin Matton in twelfth, Troy Perichon in sixteenth and Duncan Brown in seventeenth.
Brendan O’Connor is there too in his Ford Falcon and was fifth fastest in that session.
The #24 Holden Commodore in the field that is driven by Rodney Templeton was a Future Tourer that used to be a Bruce Williams owned AUSCAR and it was even driven by Kevin Schwantz.
Sprint 1 was won overall by Brendan O’Connor with a time of 1:37.2622, Eddie Woods was fifth, Lukas Gates was seventh, Brad Lighton was eighth, twelfth was Alex Hollier, thirteenth was Troy Perichon, fourteenth was Brad Hall and fifteenth was Colin Matton.
Sprint 2 is scheduled for 9:35am and Sprint 3 is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday.
Sunday has Sprint 4 scheduled for 11:15am and Sprint 5 is scheduled for 3:40pm.
Blend Line TV will be covering the event which is good for everybody who likes what they do for motorsport, both days are cued up ready on YouTube, the above is for Saturday.

Paul Zemunik and friends are currently working on a new project; they’ve taken a Toyota Camry body off a car that Brodie Kostecki had driven in the NASCAR East series and replaced it with a Generation 6 body that was imported from Hendrick Motorsports and it is a Super Speedway body, that’s not all as the interior is being given the update that it needs.
This car is not the one that was seen in Adelaide earlier this year, that one belongs to the Dale’s who also live in Western Australia.
Working on the car with Paul is Jeremy Gunson and Charlie, Charlie is Paul’s neighbour, he is considered a legend and has worked with both Paul and Jeremy on their cars and truck respectively.
We’ll keep you updated on this build; there is no doubt that we’ll see a beautifully presented car with great power to boot.

The car has had Stock Cars Australia experience; it had participated in the Queensland Raceway round in 2024.

In 2023, the above #2 Chevrolet that was raced in ARCA was spotted in South Australia and Victoria, it has not been mentioned since, where did it go?
The car was driven in ARCA by Dustin Hapka in 2012 for Wayne Hixson; he drove it at Elko Speedway and Kansas Speedway for 18th and 32nd place finishes.
Last reports suggested that the car was being auctioned, hopefully it is still in the country.
One thing that has puzzled us is that Bob Middleton was driving the #95 at Calder Park Thunderdome in 1999 looking like the above, in 2026 he was driving the #85 in Adelaide and its interior looked the exact same including the red square seen on the right side, a feature seen in Phil Barkdoll’s cars.
Either the #85 and the #95 look exactly the same (and are both ex-Phil Barkdoll cars) or the #95 later became the #85, we’re curious to find out what’s the story.
Do you know the fate of this Ford Thunderbird? It is an ex-Charlie O’Brien car (it is not the #41 Ford Thunderbird) that was driven by Pete Nolan in 1999, it was last known to have been owned by a Rodney Brewer and was the #6, the number was styled just like Mark Martin’s was at the time but it did not have a Valvoline livery.
On the subject of a Ford Thunderbird, if there is anybody in contact with Martin Borrows, we would like to find out what happened to his Ford Thunderbirds, we are hoping that they are still around somewhere as the Thunderbirds are in small numbers and the more that we find, the better.
Does anybody know where the #88 Ford Fusion has gone? It has been a couple of years since it was last mentioned.
Does anybody know who ordered two Commodores for the 2000/01 season, a season that did not happen which resulted in the two cars remaining in the USA? The above car is one of the two.
Now that we firmly believe that the #8/#27 ride car turned #3 Lumina was originally an ex-#31 Race Cars & Engines Oldsmobile that was then used by NASTRAK/George Elliot, we are hoping to find out if the car that was leased out to Ron Goodman in 1992 is the same car, it is also theorised that Walter Giles used it when he went between Buick and Chevrolet Lumina eras.
