Round 3 action will be taking place this weekend at Winton Raceway, we started at Sydney Motorsport Park, went to Queensland Raceway for the first time and now Stock Cars Australia is in Victoria for the first of two rounds in the state.
The National Circuit is the layout of choice, it is 3km in total with twelve turns while the Super Trucks is the only category to take on the Club circuit of 2.028 km.
Good news on the weather front, no sign of rain, temperatures will be around 17 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.
Round Information
Practice sessions for Friday are on at 9:25am, 12:20pm and 3pm.
Qualifying is on Saturday at 8:45am
Race 1 and 2 are on Saturday at 11:50am and 3pm
Race 3 and 4 are on Sunday at 10:25am and 1:40pm
All four races are expected to run for 9 laps so that is 108km in total so could call it the Winton 108.
You will find the Stock Cars Australia teams in the T Garage section, they occupy T16 to T30.
You will find all the important information on this link which includes the schedule, garage allocation and online ticket purchases for those who like to do it digitally.

Championship leader Brett Mitchell won’t be at Winton, but the good news is that Brendon Hourigan is back in the #51 OzTruck after missing the round at Queensland Raceway.
Joining Brendon in OzTrucks are Danny Burgess and Robert Marchese in the #7 and #84 respectively.

On the Stock Cars side, the #16 Ford Mustang of Scott Nind will be in action at the track, the sound of the Mustang gets attention every time and Winton is no exception.

Richard White and Jake Frisch are back in action in the two Richard White Racing machines, Richard is in the #8 Monte Carlo and Jake is in the #3 Lumina.

The #19 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Daniel Stubbs will be at the track and so will the ex-TA2 Dodge driven Jeff Stubbs.
Michael Rice has brought his VT Commodore along for his second round of the season, a VT is always good to see, SCA has a VT Stock Car and a VT Muscle Division car in its ranks.

Troy Perichon was made President of SCA AUSCAR this year and the move has been a quick success with an increase of entrants for this round with further increases in entries expected to come.
Colin Matton is making his debut in the #2 VN Commodore, this Commodore was recently tested at Calder Park so car and driver are good to go.
Brad Lighton is in the #26 VS Commodore; it will look familiar to AUSCAR fans as Jason Whyllie drove it in the 90s to great success, Brad drove at Calder Park last year including taking the #7 around the Thunderdome.
Expected to join the field is the #54 XF Falcon Sportsman that was last raced in the combined AUSCAR and Sportsman round that was held on the Thunderdome in December 1999, that round was the last one for both categories.
The new arrivals have attracted the interest of V8 Sleuth and judging from comments about the article on the V8 Sleuth Facebook page, more cars may be coming out of hiding sooner rather than later.
For those who are new to the series or to ASCN, the Stock Car numbers at Winton are not a true indicator of how many Stock Cars SCA has as the #1, #8 (the other one), #25, #27, #41 and #88 will be back in the future and there are cars like the #3 (Pontiac Grand Prix), #5 (Chevrolet Monte Carlo), Jake Frisch’s Pontiac and the #19 (Pontiac Grand Prix) being restored.
There’s the in the recent change of ownership in the #1 Pontiac and the #46 Oldsmobile (Days of Thunder Tribute car) so that’s two more out there that may one day appear in a race.
On the AUSCAR side of things the #47 (the yellow one), #61 and #66 ran laps of the Thunderdome this year, the #31 Commodore, #34 Ford Falcon and the #77 Ford Falcon are being restored and a couple of others are under cover at homes around Australia so there is no shortage of cars that we hope will be competing in the future.
The OzTrucks have the #226 and the #11 to come back so we’re looking at combined numbers of over 20 if everybody can get together, it will happen one day.
If you’re looking for an AUSCAR, a Stock Car, a GTA or Muscle Division car to buy, contact Stock Cars Australia so the journey towards car ownership can begin.
The future is bright, perhaps just as bright as the weather predicted for the weekend, stay tuned to ASCN for updates during the weekend.
