42 days until the racing gets underway at Sydney Motorsport Park, things really get interesting when we get into the 30’s, we get the first couple of entries in the thirties and then the excitement builds.

Start talking up the season, get the word out that Stock Cars are in action once again this year and you all have beautiful cars and great personalities to share, a big year is in store for us all and together we can make great things happen.

This last week has largely been spent trying to prove beyond doubt the history of the #3 Lumina, unfortunately we haven’t been able to do so, it is believed the car was a Walter Giles car close to its beginnings (if not it) as plenty of exterior pink was uncovered (at least two shades) but all photos and videos show no light pink interior but there is always the possibility it was painted over so the car may have been seen a million times.

Hopefully somebody who worked with Brad Jones around 1995 will remember when they got the #8 ride car and most importantly remember who they received it from, and we can work backwards from there, the tyranny of distance that is the past can make things difficult to sort things out but we’re hoping the information is out there.

Tracking the history of a car can be difficult as a car could have lived many lives, here’s an example of a car in many guises, in 2002, the #18 Chevrolet Monte Carlo of Duncan Bain was previously the #5 of Rodney Crick, the #2 of Rusty French (before he got the former and now current #27), the #54 of Graham Elliot, the #4 of Perry Schubert and even further back so you may think there’s five different cars out there but it is really only one.

Meanwhile the new owner of #17 is continuing to put the hard work into restoring the former Tony Southwell car that was acquired in its basic form at the start of the year, you got to admire the commitment of Stock Car owners, parts are not bountiful in Australia and overseas parts hurt the wallet but the enthusiasm to do the job has never been higher.

Cole Davis is working hard on his Ford Falcon; more parts are being fitted into the car this weekend, we’ve been writing a history on the car as it is being put back together, there is plenty to tell.

We have history reports on the #3 Pontiac, the #5, #19 and #25 in development at the moment, all are being updated as more information comes to hand, if any car owner wants a history written up, just ask, it is for the low price of $0.00.

That’s it for this week, lots about the past but we need to understand the past to inspire us into the future, knowledge is power, watching history unfold is great and writing new chapters is the best.
