When was the last Stock Car race in Australia?
It is a question that doesn’t have an answer to everybody’s satisfaction, and many answers end up flying around.
The last Stock Car round at Calder Park Thunderdome happened in December 1999 with the last race won by Kim Jane but Stock Car racing did not end there.
The Bob Jane era ended at Albert Park in March 2000 as the championship was a support category at the Australian Grand Prix.
Kim Jane won all the races at Albert Park and he won the 1999/00 championship in the process.
V8 Stock Cars started in 2001, and they raced a full season that started with an exhibition round at Mallala and ended at Calder Park Raceway.

Time to time you’ll see stories that the V8 Stock Cars series ended at Calder Park in November 2001 (it is sometimes erroneously written up as 2002) but that is not true.
The round at Calder Park Raceway was the season finale not the series finale.
V8 Stock Cars raced at Oran Park, Mallala, and Queensland Raceway in 2002.

V8 Stock Cars raced as part of the Power Tour and the Power Tour ended shortly after the round at Queensland Raceway so some may say that the last Stock Car race was at that track.
A series billed as ‘V8 Stock Cars’ raced at Winton Raceway later that year, four Stock Cars participated in that event with a fifth being sidelined before Race 1.
As discussed earlier, a couple of series or series attempts helped keep Stock Car racing rolling forward after 2002, each one played a part in the present-day story.
Stock Cars Australia currently has AUSCAR, NASCAR, GTA and OzTrucks on the same track as the Australian Stock Car Championship.
You never know, one day Stock Cars Australia may have enough Stock Cars and decide to have an all-Stock Car race and that would completely upend history.
So, if you want to be all technical then racing with just Cup cars ended at Winton in 2002 but people have raced their cars in many different series after 2002 and into the present day, so the answer varies from person to person.
