Earlier today we asked about the fate of a Les Kennewell Pontiac and a George Elliot Lumina shell.
Unfortunately, Todd Kennewell had bad news for us, both the Pontiac and the Lumina no longer exist, they were scrapped, they were part of a collection, and they were scrapped when the collection was moved.
So, the Giles/Kennewell car was a front steer car, and the George Elliot shell was AUS vs. USA marked, they were part of a graveyard collection.
It was not the news that we were hoping for, but it does happen, shells and old cars do crumble in the open and there was a time from 2002 to 2013 that cars did not have a whole lot of value, nobody was racing them in Australia.
It can be argued that the value of cars did not rise until COVID so scrapping whatever was left of cars or shells would have been a good bet.
So, it is on to a new challenge, finding out where some more missing cars went, maybe somebody has a Lumina, a Monte Carlo, a Cutlass, a Delta 88, a Thunderbird, a Regal or a LeSabre and more just waiting to be discovered.
We’ll keep searching.
