Over the last decade, we’ve looked at the history of many cars and sometimes you browse through the internet, see something interesting and then forget where it was seen and spend ages looking for it with no success.

One such situation has always been on our minds.

So, the story is that Les Kennewell got into Stock Car racing by buying a Pontiac from Walter Giles, picked the number 62 and went racing.

The Walter Giles car that Les refers to in Motorsport News would be the car up above, so it is good that we have a visual starting point.

Channel Nine made a goof and called it a Chevrolet Lumina though Walter did used to race those in the past.

Some time passed and Les Kennewell would end up buying another car, the cheaper of the cars that Robert Tinworth was offering up for sale which was one of the popular Miller cars and that car later ended up with Paul Scicluna.

So, what happened to the Giles and Kennewell car? We might be mistaken, but we’re positive that we saw a photo of the car in some outdoor collection in New South Wales, next to it was a yellow George Elliot Lumina.

We also recall that this collection had moved locations, hopefully that reminds somebody of the cars.

Unfortunately, we don’t remember which one of the many Australian NASCAR groups and pages that we saw it on, it may have been a photo left as a comment which makes it harder to find.

Hopefully somebody out there knows exactly what we’re talking about, and we find out the answer.
