
Round 2 of the 2026 Australian Stock Car Championship was held at One Raceway on June 20 and 21.
Daniel Stubbs was on a hot streak having claimed all three victories at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Based on results from the previous One Raceway event, Jeff Stubbs stood a good chance at taking home a victory or two.
Lots of interest was directed towards the #3 Chevrolet Camaro, it had an interrupted run at Sydney Motorsport Park, and it remained to be seen if Richard White could keep up with the Stubbs duo.
Robert Marchese and Mick Heppleston were flying the flag for the OzTrucks.
Barry Kelleher was back in the beautifully presented #31 Ford Mustang.
Paul Chambers recently purchased the #08 Chevrolet Monte Carlo; he wasted no time in getting behind the wheel by joining the series at this round.
Jamey Hollier was back in the #71 Ford Falcon, the car was the sole SCA AUSCAR in the field, a situation that will be changing quite quickly at Winton and Calder Park.
Laurence Mckinnon was back in the XE Falcon, Dave Brien was back in the Torana.
Brett Hord, Andrew Grosse and Richard Hodgson were part of the field too to bring the field to 13 entrants plus AASA TT competitor in Beau Campbell.
Practice
Joining us for the round once again was Brad Burgess, Brad is a car owner, he has assisted many teams with both builds and repairs and has filled in roles here such as photographer and news source.
Barry Kelleher topped practice with a time of 1:05.4480 with Daniel Stubbs just 0.0230 of a second behind him, Daniel logged the highest number of laps with 16 being done in the 20-minute practice session.
Qualifying
Daniel Stubbs went straight to the top of the timing sheet with a time of 1:06.2870 with Barry Kelleher second, Daniel quickly improved to a 1:04.8490 and Jeff Stubb’s third lap of 1:04.9790 was good enough to jump into second.
Richard White moved up the order and on his fourth lap taken fourth with a time of 1:08.6650, he quickly moved up to third with a time of 1:06.6760.
There was a change up the top as Jeff Stubbs passed Daniel Stubbs to take the top spot away.
Robert Marchese moved up to fourth with a time of 1:07.1300 as the session moved past halfway.
Mick Heppleston’s third lap time of 1:10.7540 moved him up from ninth to sixth.
Dave Brien moved up to seventh, but it didn’t last long as Jamey Hollier’s times suddenly appeared on screen and he was slotted into the position, it may have had to do with the car appearing as #7 and then #71.
Five of the qualifiers put in 10 or more laps in, Brett Hord unfortunately did not get a qualifying run, but he would be racing.
Jeff Stubbs would comfortably take pole position by 0.6310 seconds.

Race 1

Daniel Stubbs got the perfect started and rocketed away from the field, Daniel was 3.7 seconds up at the end of the first lap, Jeff Stubbs retained second and found himself having Richard White for close company.
One great battle on the track was between Barry Kelleher in the #31 Ford Mustang and Robert Marchese in the #84 Chevrolet Silverado for fourth position.
By halfway, Daniel Stubbs was 5.92 seconds in front and the main battles on the track were Jeff Stubbs vs. Richard White and Barry Kelleher vs. Robert Marchese.
Brett Hord who was running ninth retired from the race after completing six laps of the race.
Paul Chambers retired from the race after eight laps falling just short of completing his first race in the championship.
Mick Heppleston was the last driver to record their best lap as he achieved a 1:09.1400 on Lap 8.
It was a comfortable 9.39 second win for Daniel Stubbs who increased his winning streak for 2026 to four races.
Jeff Stubbs held off Richard White for second position by .4160 seconds in a highly entertaining battle.

Barry Kelleher held off Robert Marchese by just 0.0340 of a second in their battle for fourth position
Sixth place was Mick Heppleston who was followed by Jamey Hollier, Dave Brien, Richard Hodgson, Laurence Mckinnon and Andrew Grosse.
Race 2

The field was smaller for this race as Laurence Mckinnon, Brett Hord and Andrew Grosse did not start the race leaving ten on the track plus AASA TT runner Beau Campbell.
Daniel Stubbs got away to a good start and Richard White moved up to second in the Camaro dropping Jeff Stubbs down to third and Robert Marchese moved up to fourth.
The race was soon under caution as Beau Campbell’s move on Mick Heppleston did not stick and put both drivers out of the race.
Barry Kelleher retired from the race during the caution period cutting the field down to eight runners.
The race quickly restarted and Daniel Stubbs was still in command of the field; Richard White was making things interesting by sticking close to the #19 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and was as close as 0.3530 seconds from the lead.
Jeff Stubbs was running close to the #3 Chevrolet Camaro but could make no moves to get past the #3.
Robert Marchese was sitting comfortable in fourth as Jamey Hollier, Dave Brien and Richard Hodgson were sticking close together for the fifth position.

Daniel Stubbs won the race by 1.08 seconds from Richard White with Jeff Stubbs just over half a second further back then came Robert Marchese in fourth.
Jamey Hollier held off Dave Brien for fifth by just .4 of a second with Richard Hodgson just over a second behind them in seventh position.
Paul Chambers rounded out the field in eighth to record his first finish for the season, his best time of 1:12.2440 was good enough to be the fifth fastest in the field.
Race 3

The day started off with good news, Mick Heppleston’s #304 Chevrolet Silverado was repaired and all thirteen runners plus Beau Campbell were in the field for Race 3.
Daniel Stubbs once again got a great start and had a 5.99 second lead over Richard White after the completion of the first lap.
Jeff Stubbs was keeping up with the #3 Camaro and Robert Marchese was keeping up with the #45 Dodge Challenger.
Barry Kelleher who started the race in ninth, quickly moved up to fifth place.
Jamey Hollier dropped down to seventh after losing places to Barry Kelleher and Dave Brien.
Lap 3 saw Jeff Stubbs pass Richard White for second, and Daniel Stubbs found even more speed to post a lap time of 1:02.4500 to have a lead of just over 13 seconds.
Mick Heppleston who started the race in tenth position was up to seventh by the fourth lap of the race and was quickly sixth after moving past Dave Brien.
Paul Chambers moved up to seventh position after passing Dave Brien and was right behind Mick Heppleston for sixth position.
As Daniel Stubbs got further and further ahead, Jeff Stubbs was staying ahead of Richard White who in turn was staying ahead of Robert Marchese who had a large time gap on Barry Kelleher.
Paul Chambers dropped down from seventh to tenth position with Dave Brien, Jamey Hollier and Richard Hodgson all picking up a place.
Richard Hodgson who was running ninth retired from the race which put Laurence Mckinnon into the Top 10.
Barry Kelleher retired from fifth position and that moved Mick Heppleston into fifth and gave Brett Hord a Top 10 finish.
Daniel Stubbs won the race by 18.2 seconds ahead of Jeff Stubbs with Richard White finishing third, Robert Marchese finishing fourth and Mick Heppleston rounding out the Top 5.
Sixth was Jamey Hollier, seventh was Dave Brien, eighth was Paul Chambers, ninth was Laurence Mckinnon, tenth was Brett Hord and rounding out the finishers was Andrew Grosse.
Race 4

A new day brought good news, Allan, Robert Marchese’s friend and mechanic helped Danny Burgess put Mick’s truck back together, Zac also jumped in and helped a little as well.
It was back to a full field after a number of runners were out of the running in Race 2.
Daniel Stubbs was going for the clean sweep, and he got away to another fast start in Race 3.
Jeff Stubbs and Richard White continued their close racing with the #45 Dodge Challenger staying ahead for the third time in their four races.
The early movers of the race were Barry Kelleher and Paul Chambers; the duo were sixth and seventh three laps in.
Barry Kelleher was in the Top 5 halfway through the race with Mick Heppleston dropping down to seventh.
Dave Brien, Laurence Mckinnon, AASA TT driver Beau Campbell and Brett Hord were all sticking close together on the track.
Paul Chambers seventh place run came to an end as the #08 Chevrolet Monte Carlo headed into the pits and into retirement.
Jamey Hollier was running a solid race in seventh though his comfortable margin to Dave Brien was steadily being eaten into.

Dave Brien wasn’t the only one with eyes on seventh as Laurence Mckinnon, Brett Hord and Beau Campbell were close by as well setting up plenty of late race excitement
It was a clean sweep for Daniel Stubbs as he finished 13.64 seconds ahead of Jeff Stubbs who was only .3440 seconds ahead of Richard Stubbs, then it was Robert Marchese in a distant fourth position, followed by Barry Kelleher in fifth place.
Sixth was Mick Heppleston who was just a tick over two seconds behind Barry, seventh was Jamey Hollier, eighth was Dave Brien, ninth was Laurence Mckinnon, tenth was Brett Hord, eleventh was Richard Hodgson and rounding out the finishers was Andrew Grosse in twelfth.
Wrap Up
We’re now halfway through the season and Daniel Stubbs has had the perfect season so far.
There was great competition all around during the weekend and that means exciting championship battles.
Coming up is Winton on August 29 and 30, it is a VMRC round and there is lots to look forward to, some cars are returning for their first round of the season, and we may see the debut of the #23 Oldsmobile driven by Eddie Ivermee.
Before that is the Winton Festival of Speed and that will feature a couple of the AUSCARs that you see in the series, they are on July 24 to 26.
