There are 29 days to go until the first round of the 2026 season gets underway at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Entries for the round are open after the AASA switched to a new system, the new system requires you to do some logging in, it appears that entrants in other categories have had some difficulties getting their account established.

If you have any trouble getting an account going etc., contact Zac or Mel and they will help you get things sorted.

Formula Ford, AASA Tin Tops, Formula RX8 and Legend Cars are also on the bill for April 25-26 round.

It is a free spectator event so if you would like to see Stock Cars Australia in action and you live close to Sydney Motorsport Park, April 25-26 is a good time to check them out, further details can be found here.

It has been a busy week for Richard White Racing, they now have an Instagram account and today across social media they gave everybody a sneak peek of its future, a future that regular readers would have seen once before, a Camaro.

Somebody out there owns that Camaro and RWR has the great honour of running it in Australia, we look forward to seeing it on the track soon.

We received emails from Pete Nolan this week, Pete raced Stock Cars at Albert Park and at Queensland Raceway, Peter said that he had brought the second Charlie O’Brien car (Phil Muffet’s #41 is the other one) and he had used it at Albert Park as the #47.

That car ended up with a guy named Rodney Brewer and who knows where the car went after that, hopefully still around somewhere, we’d love to know especially if there is a possibility of it being on track with the other ex-Charlie O’Brien Thunderbird.

Peter then drove the Drew Kruck entered #29 Monte Carlo at Queensland Raceway in 2002, it was formerly the #01 and it was sponsored by Big Kev which sounds pretty cool as Big Kev was to put simply big at the time.

Information about V8 Stock Cars era especially the shortened 2002 season is rare to receive so whenever something new is shown to us, it is really attention-grabbing stuff.

We want to thank Pete for taking the time this week to tell us who owned what Ford Thunderbird as Martin Borrows, Gene Cook, the Wanless brothers, Dick Howe and himself were buyers at around the same time, so cars were regularly changing hands and there were leases and it can be quite complicated sorting it all out, now more gaps in history have been filled in.

The Winton Festival of Speed is perfectly placed for SCA AUSCAR as it almost right in the middle between Round 3 at One Raceway (June 20-21) and Round 4 at Winton (August 29-30).

The #8 Monte Carlo is for sale, this car was built in 1999 for Joe Bessey and was run in Winston Cup competition, it was driven by Geoff Bodine and other drivers in 1999 and 2000, it went on to be raced in SCCA competition and then it was brought to Australia by Graham Booth and it has been around SCA since the very beginning.

Don’t worry fans, Richard White Racing isn’t going anywhere, they’ve got plenty of Stock Car racing left in them for the future with a very interesting project ahead, one that will be greatly helped by a sale.

You can buy the car as it is, you can buy the car with a fresh engine, or you can buy the car and have Richard White Racing prepare it for the 2026 season.

Information Most Wanted

We are looking for parts of histories on a couple of cars, the problem we have is that while people have given us answers, the answers do differ and so we seek written, verbal or visual proof to sort the histories out.

Paul Scicluna is looking for information on his #12 Pontiac Grand Prix.

This Pontiac raced at the Grand Prix round in 1999, it finished 23rd, 10th and 16th for the weekend.

The information we have received is that the car came from Les Kennewell and he got it from Robert Tinworth.

Determining which car from the Tinworth team is not as straight forward as Robert Tinworth said ‘l had 5 of them’ when asked about his cars in 2020.

An advertisement in January 1997 offered four Pontiacs for sale, two front steer cars with 23-degree engines and two rear steer cars that were to be sold as rollers.

One car that gets mentioned a lot is the ex-Kyle Petty Pontiac that was later the Harrington Commodore and then the Tinworth Pontiac, we’ve read somewhere it was sold a few years ago which if true would not be the car we seek as Paul has had his car since before 2000.

So, if you know the answer, please let us know.

Now that we firmly believe that the #8/#27 ride car turned #3 Lumina was originally an ex-#31 Race Cars & Engines Oldsmobile that was then used by NASTRAK/George Elliot, we are hoping to find out if the car that was leased out to Ron Goodman in 1992 is the same car, it is also theorised that Walter Giles used it when he went between Buick and Chevrolet Lumina eras.
