There are 50 days to go until the first round of the 2026 season gets underway at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Entries are for the round are on hold until the 16th as the AASA are switching to a new system.

Formula Ford, AASA Tin Tops, Formula RX8 and Legend Cars are also on the bill for April 25-26 with action taking place under lights on the Saturday before a full day on Sunday and the racing is on the Druitt circuit.

An early schedule has been released by the AASA and so far, the first round comprises of two 15 lap races both of which will be on the Sunday and Saturday will have practice and qualifying.

It is a free spectator event so if you would like to see Stock Cars Australia in action and you live close to Sydney Motorsport Park, April 25-26 is a good time to check them out, further details can be found here.

A reminder to AUSCAR and Sportsman owners that if you are interested in participating in the 2026 edition of the Winton Festival of Speed, please contact Troy Perichon, President of SCA AUSCAR for further information.

If you need to get your car or truck to do some laps to get it in great shape for the season or to have a run before joining anytime through the season, there are options available to you through Drive Events to run at Calder Park from March to September this year.

This week was a sad one with the passing of Phil Brock, Phil tried his hand at both AUSCAR and Australian NASCAR, he raced in the first ever AUSCAR race in the #1 Holden Commodore and finished in fourth place.

Phil mainly raced the #2 Holden Commodore in Australian NASCAR and that stint was memorable for a horrid run in a 1991/92 race (December 1 1991) where he was part of a big wreck and had some close calls, stories have gone around about the aftermath of that race and Phil defended himself strongly on social media when they were brought up.

Wet conditions greeted those who went to Adelaide for the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, the good news was that the cars in attendance did get to have a go on the track.

The #85 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had the #9 Ford Fusion, the #3 Chevrolet Silverado and the #43 Toyota Camry for company in the soggy fun.

While the #85 was said in commentary to be the last Thunderdome winner, the winners that weekend were Neville Lance (#14 Ford Taurus), Terry Wyhoon (#25 Ford Thunderbird) and Kim Jane (#27 Chevrolet Monte Carlo).

We thank Josh Dale for keeping us information of how the event was going over the course of last weekend.

Jeremy Gunson has had the engine of his #4 Chevrolet Silverado fired up, Jeremy had great help from the Zemunik family and others who have given him great support over the last couple of years.

It looks like the long search for the origins of the #3 Chevrolet Lumina has come to an end, Richard, Zac, Eddie and ASCN all worked together on this, it is believed that the plate imprint on the #3 matches the size of the plate that was made for all the #31 Slender You sponsored cars (Oldsmobile and Pontiac) that were owned by Race Cars & Engines, some mysteries do remain, more later on in this edition.

The ownership trail for the #47/#5/#86 Buick/Pontiac became a little clearer this week, Eddie found out that Robert Tinworth brought the then Pontiac Aero from Trevor Oliver and also found out that he started putting a Pontiac Grand Prix body on the car before work was halted.

Take a look at this shot of the #95 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that Bob Middleton was driving in the 1999/00 season, you can see history in it, right next to the BP sticker, you see a red square, that red square appears to look the same as a team plate that belonged to Barkdoll Racing.

Barkdoll Racing sold an Oldsmobile to Ian Thomas who sold it to Denzil Mead to sold it to Bob Middleton and it was rebodied to a Monte Carlo after its victory in the 1996/97 season finale.

Take a look at Bob Middleton in the #85 Monte Carlo at The Bend Classic in 2020, it looks exactly the same, something to look into either #95 became #85 or the two team cars are exactly alike in every detail.

Sponsors

If you have a car sponsor and you want to give them some promotion, we can do that here for you for free, it doesn’t even matter if you own that particular company.

If anybody is looking for sponsors and wants us to post about it, let us know what packages you are offering, and we will put it up for you for as long as you like.

Parts Wanted

Do you have a Pontiac Grand Prix bonnet that is just taking up space? Phil Muffet needs one for one of his two Pontiacs, so if you’re eager to sell one, please contact Phil and help get the project closer to completion.

For Sale

The #8 Monte Carlo is for sale, this car was built in 1999 for Joe Bessey and was run in Winston Cup competition, it was driven by Geoff Bodine and other drivers in 1999 and 2000, it went on to be raced in SCCA competition and then it was brought to Australia by Graham Booth and it has been around SCA since the very beginning.

Don’t worry fans, Richard White Racing isn’t going anywhere, they’ve got plenty of Stock Car racing left in them for the future with a very interesting project ahead, one that will be greatly helped by a sale.

You can buy the car as it is, you can buy the car with a fresh engine, or you can buy the car and have Richard White Racing prepare it for the 2026 season.

Check out the above video to see the car in action at Calder Park Raceway in November 2025, the #8 Monte Carlo had won one of the four races that weekend.

If you’re interested, check out the link above that has all the details and then contact Richard.

If you’re looking for something in the style of the early decades of NASCAR, there is a Ford Galaxie for sale for $25,000, it is a 1969 Ford Galaxie body with a 1989 Randercar chassis with a McGunegill built 347 ci windsor engine, find out more here.

If those two don’t get your interest, how about a HQ Holden or two? there’s the #20 HQ Holden complete with the Vin ‘A 625’ or there is Cameron Fisher’s #39 HQ Holden for $20,000

If you have a Stock Car, an AUSCAR, a Sportsman or a HQ for sale, drop us a line any time and we’ll advertise it for free, it can be a complete, turn key car, a car missing some parts or even if it is just a roller, we’re also happy to advertise the sale of parts and promote offers for working on cars.

You may just have the car, the parts or the skills that somebody really needs.

Additionally, if you want to buy a car, tell us what you want, what condition you want it (complete or roller) in and your price range and we will post it for you.

Information Most Wanted

We are looking for parts of histories on a couple of cars, the problem we have is that while people have given us answers, the answers do differ and so we seek written, verbal or visual proof to sort the histories out.

Paul Scicluna is looking for information on his #12 Pontiac Grand Prix.

This Pontiac raced at the Grand Prix round in 1999, it finished 23rd, 10th and 16th for the weekend.

The information we have received is that the car came from Les Kennewell and he got it from Robert Tinworth.

Determining which car from the Tinworth team is not as straight forward as Robert Tinworth said ‘l had 5 of them’ when asked about his cars in 2020.

An advertisement in January 1997 offered four Pontiacs for sale, two front steer cars with 23-degree engines and two rear steer cars that were to be sold as rollers.

One car that gets mentioned a lot is the ex-Kyle Petty Pontiac that was later the Harrington Commodore and then the Tinworth Pontiac, we’ve read somewhere it was sold a few years ago which if true would not be the car we seek as Paul has had his car since before 2000.

So, if you know the answer, please let us know.

Now that we believe that the #8/#27 ride car turned #3 Lumina was originally an ex-#31 Race Cars & Engines Oldsmobile that was then used by NASTRAK/George Elliot, we are hoping to find out if the car that was leased out to Ron Goodman in 1992 is the same car, it is also theorised that Walter Giles used it when he went between Buick and Chevrolet Lumina eras.

That’s it for this edition of Aussie Stock Car News, thank you for coming.

See you next week.
