Assetto Mods – Car and Track Database makes some great mods for Assetto Corsa.
We’ve previously shown some examples of their work like the EB Falcon and today it was time to try out their version of Calder Park,
They have made three versions, the Thunderdome, the Raceway and the combined track and they can be obtained only if you are a member of their Patreon.

First try had to be on the Thunderdome using the Oldsmobile cars mod and this version has all the bells and whistles needed for a race apart from the one thing for the purists, there is no anticlockwise option.

My first race didn’t start off perfectly, Phil Barkdoll got tagged in Turn 1 and spun up the track right into my path, it looked like that I was going to get through, but I got tagged and sent spinning into the #4 Oldsmobile.
The 10-lap race was completed, the AI had some issues with the track, so pileups helped my cause as my #68 Oldsmobile wanted to drift up the track in Turn 3 costing precious time.

Next was to try the raceway, I’ve had plenty of experience with the raceway on Brodie’s Assetto Mods version, so I wasn’t going to be very slow on the track, this version however uses has the classic late 90s look.

As you can see, the old footbridge is over the track, it is always interesting to have a race on the same place you’ve seen on TV so many times before.

Then it was time to test out the combined layout, I like to start the race nice and slow as the field slows right down to get on to the Thunderdome, slowing down ensures that you don’t end up in the back of another car.

It was a satisfying experience driving on this track, oh how we wish that the Thunderdome could be used, it would also be cool if the Legends could use the layout the Legends used in the 90s.
One big problem with the Calder Park layouts is that the start/finish line does not include the pits so you will lose a lap every time you make a pit stop.

The other downside to the Assetto Corsa experience are a lack of Australian liveried cars to use though there is always the HQs and then if you want to be imaginative, there are the V8 Brutes that can be used.
Maybe some Assetto Corsa modder will read this and take on the challenge of doing some cars using the available mods like the Oldsmobiles (Cup 90).
