There are 8 days to go until Round 4 action of the 2025 Australian Stock Car Championship takes place at One Raceway.
Entries close at 10am on August 13 so if you’re thinking of entering, you better get your entry in by going here.
Nine entries are officially in at this time; others have indicated that they will be entering so double figures will be happening which is always a good thing.
The schedule has been released, currently on the Saturday there will be Qualifying on at 10:15am, Race 1 will be on at 1:29pm and Race 2 will be on at 4:38pm, all three will run for 15 minutes apiece.
Then Sunday will have Race 3 on at 9:35am and Race 4 will be on at 12:20pm, both races will run for 17 minutes apiece.
Today (August 8) was a busy day for Stock Cars Australia competitors as Brad Lighton, Colin Matton, Jamey Hollier and Richard White made the journey to Calder Park Raceway to cut some laps, another AUSCAR owner Brad Hall was there to watch the action.

Michael Rice has great support, take this Facebook reel by BSC Performance & Dyno Tuning as one example.
We have a new report from AUSCAR #31, it is true that the cars used at One Raceway in the 2000s got a lot of use at the track before they ended up at Winton and were later rescued from rusty fate.
Speaking of the cars, we wonder about the status of all the other cars that used to be at One Raceway.
We know that Jamey Hollier has the #7 Ford Falcon, Lukas Gates has the #22 Holden Commodore, Cole Davis has the #38 Ford Falcon (it was #77 and before that the #15 and even earlier the #38), it has been a while since we’ve heard about the ex-John Agosta car and there was also the #34 Ford Falcon that was reported about in V8 Sleuth.
The #8 EF/EL Ford Falcon hasn’t been seen in the AUSCAR Racing group since it was sold in October 2020.
There are other AUSCARs that haven’t been seen in a while, examples are the #19 Holden Commodore, the #24 Holden Commodore, the yellow #47 Ford Falcon and the red #47 Ford Falcon.
AUSCAR numbers are pretty strong and if we can gather the majority of them at Calder Park together in November to race or be on display, we can make things happen in 2026.
The same goes for all the others in NASCAR, GTA, OzTruck, Muscle Division, let’s try get as many people together as possible and see where it takes us in the future.
Don’t forget that the #02 Ford XF Falcon Sportsman is currently up for sale for $20,000, it is in ready-to-go condition, which gives a new owner a big advantage as most recently sold AUSCAR or NASCAR vehicles required work.
Whiteline Racing recently taken their Touring Car Masters cars out for a run, what does this got to do with Stock Cars? They also brought out the #85 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for a run (picture is from its comeback in 2020).
The #85 was driven to great success in 2001 and 2002 by Andrew Miedecke with Andrew winning over half the races of the 2001 season in a dominating display of driving.
The #85 was one of four cars to participate at Winton in October 2002 in what is labelled the last V8 Stock Cars race with Bob winning one race, the #95 was driven by Chris Templer, the #57 was driven by Barry Blake and the #32 was driven by Dave Pitman.

Brad Hall has reported that the two-time Thunderdome race winning #09 Ford XF Falcon Sportsman that was formerly driven by Andrew Gillespie has had a Dyno run with its new motor.
Rollermotive Serivce Centre in Kyneton has been a great help in getting the best out of the car and some events are pencilled in for later in the year, hopefully we’ll see it at Calder Park.
The latest on the #4 Chevrolet Silverado is that it is looking really good with its Monster Energy decals on and there is no shortage of photos to prove that.
The decals on the truck were made by Jac Opitz at JDU Decals, Jeremy says that Jac is a legend and that he’s ‘been bloody great on doing my decals‘, Jeremy also carried out some work on the windscreen of his truck.

Over at the #46 Oldsmobile team, work on the car continues on as Eddie made shock mounts yesterday and he has the fuel tank and battery mounts on his to do list.
At the top of the website, there is a new section titled ‘Car Services’ hopefully it will be useful to somebody, if anybody else is offering car building services, we’ll happily add them for free.
We are currently considering adding a sponsor’s page and a sponsors wanted page to help car owners out where possible.

Does anybody know how many seasons had one of these made? This is the book that recapped the 1990/91 season, we’re hoping they made one for 1992/93 as it may tell us who built the #23 Oldsmobile used in the 92/93 season.
While browsing through YouTube, it was noticed that there is a choice of videos on the first race at the Thunderdome but this one by SMIFF TV runs the longest at 3hrs and 47 minutes which is a bit longer than the rest of the options.
Here is something for the gamers, NASCAR ’25 is making great progress towards release, we can only hope that it is a better game than NASCAR 21: Ignition, while that game looked good, it was just a poorly built game code wise so people will be hoping for no checking up at the end of turns at Daytona and no cars falling through the track etc.
Most Wanted

Take a look at the left 3/4 window hatch on this Oldsmobile, it is the only Oldsmobile that Ian Thomas had that had this hatch, the question is where did the Olds come from? this car was used in one ARCA race in 1992 before being used for the 1992/93 Australian season.
Opinion is split, some say Doug Taylor built it, and some say it came from TriStar Motorsports, what we know for sure is that the car was sold by Ian Thomas to John Faulkner before the 93/94 season and it ran with John, Eddie Abelnica and Paul Stocker until the end of the 2001 V8 Stock Car season when it was driven by Doug Moss (Paul Stocker as owner).
Hopefully some 1992 publication will be found, and it will spill the beans on the history and settle the debate once and for all.

We are looking for anybody who may know with absolute certainty where the above ex-Brad Jones, ex-Kim Jane ride car Lumina that has Oldsmobile parts (like the rear bumper) came from before Brad Jones owned it, we have two different opinions, one is that it came from George Elliot (he isn’t sure about that) and the other is it came from Walter Giles (the Giles family doesn’t believe that) and both sides are very confident that they are correct.
It has been suggested that it is Walter Giles Buick LeSabre, we haven’t found anything to confirm or refute that, a report has been found that Walter’s original chassis went to Mark Harrison but we’re still looking into it.

The right side 3/4 window of the car is considered key; it is a Lumina 3/4 window; it is considered odd because it is surrounded by Oldsmobile parts like the rear bumper.

Pink was found underneath in the surviving layers of paint pointing its history towards Ron Goodman’s car for the Gold Coast in 1992 and Walter Giles who also had pink cars.

The #05 Ron Goodman Oldsmobile was an ex-George Elliot Oldsmobile as stated in the Round 4 1991/92 programme, it was originally claimed to be a car purchased from George, but a later publication said it was ‘lent’ (leased) to Ron by George, and it was given back to George.
As you can see, the right side of this Oldsmobile has a Lumina 3/4 window.

It appears that the Ron Goodman #05 also has a Lumina 3/4 window on its left side too making it a very odd-looking Oldsmobile.
It would be interesting to know why the Oldsmobile was selected instead of a Lumina, was the #05 originally all Lumina? or was it previously all Oldsmobile and it was in the middle of a reskin?
Assuming it is the Elliot car, either George’s team fully changed the Goodman Oldsmobile into a Lumina after it was given back, or they just replaced the front to a Chevrolet Lumina after the Olds one took a beating on the Gold Coast, and it then served as a ride car with an Olds rear bumper.
Hopefully somebody who worked on George’s team in 1992 recalls a car going to Ron Goodman and then getting it back after the Gold Coast and knowing where it went next.
Somebody out there has to know for sure, Brad Jones getting a ride car had to be a pretty big deal as he only had ‘Elroy’ on hand early on, plus a ride car is a nice way to get more Stock Car laps in too.
That’s it for this week, another great week in Australian Stock Car racing.
See you next week.
