Apologies for the slight delay in the publication of this edition, illness can put the brakes on schedules but we’re here.

There are 35 days to go until racing is underway in Round 2 of the Australian Stock Car Championship, the round will be held at The Bend, and it is the second time that Stock Cars Australia will be in South Australia.

It is a VMRC round and so the link to go to for entries etc. is right here.

On the bill for the round are the Vic Super Tin Tops, Vic V8s, Hyundai Excel Racing Victoria Trophy & Masters, The Australian Superkart Grand Prix and Holden HQ Racing.

Earlier in the week, a Charlie O’Brien Ford Thunderbird bonnet was put up for sale on eBay, it was snapped up reasonably quickly, it was in good condition, and as you can see it is still in its Visco colours and sponsorship.

There are a few interesting items on eBay, there is a AUSCAR pin and an AUSCAR/NASCAR poster on there and a few other items that require some digging to find.

The #6 Ford Falcon driven by Troy Perichon and the #02 Ford Falcon driven by Duncan Brown were cutting laps at Calder Park Raceway, it has been a while since we have seen the #02 out and about.

At the Melbourne Showgrounds this weekend for MOTOREX is the #3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, it is there in its raced at Sydney Motorsport Park condition.

The damage sustained to the Camaro has created opportunity, whoever guesses the damage cost gets a three-lap ride at Calder Park.

During the races on Clay-Per-View, the commentators were discussing the unknown car history of the #3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and they were talking about paint layers being on older cars before they changed to wraps.

Let’s take a look at the #23 Oldsmobile for such an example of paint layers, this is from the driver’s window and as you can see there are paint layers of its previous lives like the black from the John Faulkner and Eddie Abelnica eras, the red from when it was on the Salt Flats with Donald Hudson.

Where the cut section came from

Other colours seen are green and blue, they may be caused by a mix of layer colours or something else as the position of the colours don’t match the Thomas/Faulkner/Abelnica/Stocker/Hudson eras.

For Sale

The #8 Monte Carlo is for sale, this car was built in 1999 for Joe Bessey and was run in Winston Cup competition, it was driven by Geoff Bodine and other drivers in 1999 and 2000, it went on to be raced in SCCA competition and then it was brought to Australia by Graham Booth and it has been around SCA since the very beginning.

Don’t worry fans, Richard White Racing isn’t going anywhere, they’ve got plenty of Stock Car racing left in them for the future with a very interesting project ahead, one that will be greatly helped by a sale.

You can buy the car as it is, you can buy the car with a fresh engine, or you can buy the car and have Richard White Racing prepare it for the 2026 season.

Check out the above video to see the car in action at Calder Park Raceway in November 2025, the #8 Monte Carlo had won one of the four races that weekend.

If you’re interested, check out the link above that has all the details and then contact Richard.

If you’re looking for something in the style of the early decades of NASCAR, there is a Ford Galaxie for sale for $25,000, it is a 1969 Ford Galaxie body with a 1989 Randercar chassis with a McGunegill built 347 ci windsor engine, find out more here.

If those two don’t get your interest, how about a HQ Holden or two? there’s the #20 HQ Holden complete with the AUSCAR VIN ‘A 625’ or there is Cameron Fisher’s #39 HQ Holden for $20,000.

There’s also the #66 Truck for sale; it is an ex-Craftsman Trucks series vehicle awaiting a new owner and it’s a Ford too which is something unique when it comes to Trucks that are in Australia.

If you want something historic, how about the Future Tourer that James Brock drove to victory at Bathurst in 1999, it was previously the #03 AUSCAR that Peter Fitzgerald had raced, it is for sale for $69,500

If you have a Stock Car, an AUSCAR, a Sportsman or a HQ for sale, drop us a line any time and we’ll advertise it for free, it can be a complete, turn key car, a car missing some parts or even if it is just a roller, we’re also happy to advertise the sale of parts and promote offers for working on cars.

You may just have the car, the parts or the skills that somebody really needs.

Additionally, if you want to buy a car, tell us what you want, what condition you want it (complete or roller) in and your price range and we will post it for you.

Information Most Wanted

We are looking for parts of histories on a couple of cars, the problem we have is that while people have given us answers, the answers do differ and so we seek written, verbal or visual proof to sort the histories out.

Do you know the fate of this Ford Thunderbird, it is an ex-Charlie O’Brien car (it is not the #41 Ford Thunderbird) driven by Pete Nolan in 1999, it was last known to be owned by a Rodney Brewer.

On the subject of a Ford Thunderbird, if there is anybody in contact with Martin Borrows, we would like to find out what happened to his Ford Thunderbirds, we are hoping that they are still around somewhere as the Thunderbirds are in small numbers and the more that we find, the better.

Does anybody know who ordered two Commodores for the 2000/01 season, a season that did not happen which resulted in the two cars remaining in the USA?

Now that we firmly believe that the #8/#27 ride car turned #3 Lumina was originally an ex-#31 Race Cars & Engines Oldsmobile that was then used by NASTRAK/George Elliot, we are hoping to find out if the car that was leased out to Ron Goodman in 1992 is the same car, it is also theorised that Walter Giles used it when he went between Buick and Chevrolet Lumina eras.

That’s it for this edition of Aussie Stock Car News, thank you for coming.

See you next week.
