Scott Nind won the 2024 Cup Car title in the #16 and #34 Ford Mustang; this is the story of how it all came to be over the course of the five round 2024 season.

Round 1 – Sydney Motorsport Park

Scott’s title defence got off to the worst possible start when mechanical failure ended his round in Practice after being the fastest in the warmup session.

Round 2 – Queensland Raceway

The round at Queensland Raceway went much better for Scott; a mixed field of categories was no problem for the #16 Mustang as the car was the leading Stock Cars Australia entrant throughout the weekend.

Scott’s nearest challenger was Brett Mitchell in Race 1 who finished twenty seconds behind Scott and George Kulig who finished Race 2 twelve seconds behind Scott to round out Saturday.

Sunday’s races saw Scott clean sweep the weekend with Brett Mitchell finishing just over ten seconds behind in Race 3 and just over eight seconds behind in Race 4.

Spending the weekend sitting in the transporter was the #34 Mustang, a louder, faster and pure Cup version of the #16.

Round 3 – Winton Raceway

Round 3 was at Winton with the field back to being at season average number including a strong SCA AUSCAR field.

Scott won Race 1 ahead of Jeff Stubbs by just over eleven seconds before winning Race 2 by just over six seconds with Jeff Stubbs again second.

Race 3 saw a similar result to Race 2 but the best lap time between the Scott and Jeff was closer than before with Scott’s best lap time of 1:27.6456 being slightly ahead of Jeff’s 1:27.6678 both on Lap 4.

Scott won Race 4 by finishing just over fourteen seconds ahead of Brendon Hourigan.

Round 4 – Calder Park Raceway

Round 4 was at Calder Park Raceway and the Scott vs. Jeff battle continued on with Scott winning by less than 1.5 seconds with Scott’s best time of 1:02.5249 ahead of Jeff’s 1:02.7648.

Race 2 was an easier time for Scott as the Dodge of Jeff Stubbs had a mechanical failure approaching the halfway mark and Richard White finished second with the margin just under seven seconds.

Drizzle conditions greeted the field on Sunday and so did the #34 Mustang as it had replaced the #16 that was parked as there were some concerns about its health.

The #34 Mustang started from the back of the field and there was no mistaking its presence as it was louder than anything else in the field perhaps anything at Calder Park.

The #34 Mustang had to work its way through the field, and it got up to second place, but the Mustang found itself with company, the #19 Monte Carlo of Daniel Stubbs was staying close to the #34 Mustang and the #34 just couldn’t get away.

Richard White was comfortably in front of all SCA runners, and he continued on his way to winning his first Stock Cars Australia race while Scott finished second and Daniel Stubbs finished just .08 seconds behind in third.

The #34 got to play at Calder Park

Race 4 after a brief delay that resulted in the above traffic jam, was raced in more nicer conditions, and Scott was in a class of his own in the #34 winning comfortably over Richard White in the #8 Monte Carlo.

Round 5 – One Raceway

Scott was unavailable for the final round at One Raceway, but his season form was good enough to take Cup Car title.

The Cup Car field will be looking different in 2025 as a couple of sidelined competitors will be back in action and there are hopes that recent Cup Car purchasers will be able to join the field sometime in the 2025 season.

There is also the possibility of drivers getting rides with those who have cars available.

With so many possibilities, make sure you don’t miss a moment of the 2025 season.
