The Stock Car scene in Western Australia is quite strong at the moment.

Stephen Dale, Josh Dale, Paul Zemunik and Jeremy Gunson all have a car or a truck with the former three recently enjoying giving their vehicles a run at the MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway last month.

Let’s take a look at the #3 Chevrolet Silverado, the #88 Chevrolet SS and the #8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

#3 Chevrolet Silverado

Josh Dale has the #3 Chevrolet Silverado, it is a tribute truck, but the truck itself appears to have been a championship contender in the early 00s.

The truck history is a little puzzling at this time, it says the #90 CAT Truck, but Addington Racing who had the CAT Rental Stores sponsorship used #60 and the #60 team did have success that year.

That team did disband at the end of 2002 after they lost CAT Retail Stores despite winning twice with Andy Houston and once with Travis Kvapil.

The 2003 team mentioned could be any team, when a team shuts down, their vehicles are usually spread across established teams or those who are interested in obtaining a Truck.

Nothing could be found about the 2004 purchase, it is as mysterious as the early years of Jeremy Gunson’s truck, like the #4 the Truck it may have been purchased for action but was never used, we will update if we do find the answer.

The truck before its transformation.

Maybe somebody out there recognizes seeing this Truck around somewhere or they knew of a Truck team from Indianapolis, Indiana being formed in 2004.

#88 Chevrolet SS

The #88 is a Dale Earnhardt Jr tribute car from the National Guard sponsorship era, it was a JR Motorsports car in the then named Xfinity Series, it was an #88 back then when the car was sponsored by Taxslayer.

It has a mix of Cup and Xfinity Series panels on the car which makes it a little hard for people to recognise its look.

In Stock Cars Australia, it made it’s one and hopefully not only appearance in 2023 when the category made its Calder Park debut and it participated in the Thunderdome exhibition laps as well.

It has also participated in events in both Western Australia and South Australia.

#8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Paul Zemunik has the #8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo; it had Winston Cup experience before Terry Byers purchased the car when he re-entered the sport in Australia after trying to break into Winston Cup competition during the mid 90s.

Like the #88, the car has so far made one appearance in Stock Cars Australia in 2023 when it too participated in the round at Calder Park Raceway plus ran laps on the Thunderdome.

Paul has played a major role in getting Jeremy Gunson’s #4 Chevrolet Silverado towards completion by doing work on it with Jeremy.

That’s the look at the three vehicles in Western Australia and we look forward to the #4 Chevrolet Silverado joining the trio in the near future.
