Last week was a big week in SCA AUSCAR history with the announcement of two purchases.

Brad Lighton achieved something that few thought was possible, buying the #36 Ford Falcon from Garry Rogers Motorsport who had that car on a mezzanine year after year.

The car unlike the GRM car that was recovered from Baccus Marsh was unraced though we do know that Garth Tander had said that he gave it a test drive in 1998.

The car previously got lots of attention in 2015 when it was driven in a 70th birthday tribute to Garry Rogers and it appeared again in 2016 when James Moffat taken a picture of it at GRM.

There was more news just a day later, Luke Toffolon (Midnight Resto’s) brought a Holden VP Commodore, the car was sitting in a yard awaiting a new life when it was picked up.

This VP Commodore was a Les Small prepared car and as you can see Luke was very pleased with his purchase, Luke has been interested in joining the action for some time now and his chance has finally arrived.

The car was quickly taken to Calder Park as it was close to its new home base, the car may be bare and empty now, but Luke has a great team around him that will turn it into an AUSCAR before too much time has gone past.

This shows that things are on the up in SCA AUSCAR with similar results in Cup cars and it is hoped that OzTruck numbers will climb again soon.

A fact supporting the rise in SCA AUSCAR is that the #02 Ford XF Falcon Sportsman driven by Duncan Brown will be making its debut in Round 3 of the 2026 Australian Stock Car Championships at Winton on August 29 and 30.

There are a couple of AUSCARs still in the rebuilding phase the #31 Holden Commodore and the #38 Ford Falcon are two such examples, and we know that there are others out there too.
