The engine is out of the #23 Oldsmobile, and the news is encouraging, the problems that had shortened testing at Calder Park last Friday have been identified and they can be rectified, another test of the car is expected to be run before the round at Winton.
Don’t forget to give Zentrix Racing a follow, you will find out all the latest news and information on the #19 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the #45 Dodge Challenger there, check out all the AC Delco equipment that they have and more, you’ll like it.

There’s a couple of questions about the Bathurst 100 entry list that we still haven’t found answers to, the #02 Oldsmobile listed as to be driven by Gerry Raleigh, the #40 Holden Commodore listed to be driven by Nicholas Hall and the #23 Chevrolet Lumina listed to be driven by Peter Hacket.
While typing this out, it has occurred to us that based on sponsorship, the #23 would likely be the Lumina that was driven by Jimmy Ellis, that Lumina is currently being restored.
That car has had a very long life from being a Holden to a Chevrolet, you’d be amazed how many cars have had many different guises.

Here is a broadcast goof, the graphic says that Walter Giles was driving a Chevrolet Lumina when it was a Pontiac Grand Prix, this particular car was later sold and was used by another driver.
Broadcast goofs were not uncommon, commentators would occasionally get the wrong car models, graphics would display the wrong car model information, sometimes a driver’s name would be incorrect and if a driver done double duty, the information could get mixed up, the joys of 80s and 90s television.

Now that we firmly believe that the #8/#27 ride car turned #3 Lumina was originally an ex-#31 Race Cars & Engines Oldsmobile that was then used by NASTRAK/George Elliot, we are hoping to find out if the car that was leased out to Ron Goodman in 1992 is the same car, it is also theorised that Walter Giles used it when he went between Buick and Chevrolet Lumina eras.
That’s it for this edition of Aussie Stock Car News, thank you for coming.
See you next week.
