Did you know that we have more than one ex-Truck Series vehicle in Australia?
Jeremy Gunson over in Western Australia has one of the trucks and it was a bit of a mystery on where it was before it was sold to him and so we worked together and managed to make some headway in figuring it out.
The Beginning

The Truck’s story began in 2001, the chassis was made by Hutcherson-Pagan, its number was 1429 and the body was listed as a Dodge, the listed team was Genuine Motorsports, and it had Pennsylvania contact number.
While the build sheet had information on contacts and who it was for, it appears that those people did not go forward with a team as ‘Genuine Motorsports’ is not listed anywhere.
That is not unusual, some people brought trucks for others, or they had purchased a truck and didn’t have the means to go racing and so they moved it along.
We knew that the truck had ended up at the Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience (KWDRE) after being used for racing, but we did not where it came from before that.
Hours were spent trying to find images of the truck as it had looked when it was with KWDRE as captions or websites can be detailed but we had no luck there.
The past history of the truck had suddenly become clearer in June 2025 as the Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience wrap was taken off in preparation to turn the truck into a #4 Monster Energy tribute truck.

Blue, White and Red paint were visible, and it became clear through research and photo matching that FDNY Racing in 2014 had these colours and the livery in all the right spots and in all the right portions.
Another team had a similar look and was looked at as a possibility, but FDNY Racing was firming as favourite.

Further work that was carried out in July 2025 revealed that an earlier FDNY Racing livery was still on the truck and this required further investigation to get a year from it as FDNY Racing only raced a few races each season.

We found two photos that shown that kind of red and white, both of the pictures appeared on X, one was of the #28 Truck, and the other was the #39 Truck.
The #39 was used back in 2005 by S&W Motorsports and the #28 was photographed in 2007, the 2005 photo meant that we had filled in another two years of the history of the truck.
Jayski.com posted two pictures of the Truck from the 2007 Martinsville event including one showing the truck being prepared by the team for the event.
It is believed that FDNY Racing used this truck into the 2010’s before selling it presumably to KWDRE.
While research was being carried out, the painting of the Truck went on into August 2025, all the former paint layers made way for the Monster Energy black and green.
The number four was added in all the right places on the truck in September 2025, the truck’s former life with FDNY Racing was honoured with decals, also honoured was Stock Car Classics.
The decals were made possible with the help of JDU Decals (jdustore.com.au)
New seat belts and a helmet arrived in September, the belts being as green as the truck to suit it perfectly.
Work recommenced in November, new belts and head supports were fitted as well as the installation of the rear camera.
Paul Zemunik stopped by and helped out with lining up the suspension and steering, they also worked on the clutch and the throw out bearing which is also known as a clutch release bearing.

The crossmember for the accumulator was made by Darin, the oil filter mount and some welding jobs were done by Clint.
In December 2025, the Truck was on display for people to have a look at and to sit in, it was a major success as several people taken advantage of the opportunity to sit in the truck.
The last step for the truck was to make the fuel hold down brackets.
In March 2026, the long-awaited moment arrived, the #4 Chevrolet Silverado was fired up for the first time.
Jeremy said that no words could thank Paul and Kerry Zemunik enough for getting the old girl firing back into life.
The #4 Silverado has joined a growing number of Stock Cars and Trucks that have made Western Australia home over the last couple of years.
This is not the end of the story; we will continue to update this page with the latest news from the #4 Chevrolet Silverado as it cuts laps on tracks in Western Australia and hopefully beyond sometime in the future.
