For the last couple of months, ASCN has been making cars to have some fun on NASCAR Racing 2003.
While sorting out computer files, a picture of Calder Park on rFactor made us eager to restart using rFactor and the Calder Park track but while looking for the track to acquire it once again, something else was found.

Two car sets of the Australian NASCAR field for NASCAR Racing (aka NASCAR Racing 1), Greg Hingerty made two car sets for the game, the sets are for the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons though the latter had some fillers as the field composition was uncertain.
You’ve got the cars driven by Jim Richards, John Faulkner, Paul Stocker, George Elliot, Kevin Schwantz, Ian Thomas, Charlie O’Brien, Terry Wyhoon, Robert Tinworth and more.
NASCAR Racing is downloadable on the internet; you will also need to get a program called DOSBox so you can play DOS games on your computer.

Then with a free subscription to Overtake, you can find and download the two car sets, place the extracted folders into the ‘CARS’ folder of the game.
After installing the game and DOSBox and you start up DOSbox, you put in (without the ‘) ‘mount c c:\NASCAR’ and then press enter and then put in ‘c:’ and hit enter again.
So, then you’ve got ‘C:\>’ on the screen and now you put in ‘setup’ and then press enter and do your sound settings, sound blaster should do the trick for you and then you exit the setup and then exist DOSBox.
Re-open DOSBox and then repeat the steps but instead of typing in setup, you type in NASCAR and into the game you should go.

In the game, go to ‘Driver Info’ then ‘Car Sets’ and then you select either race set and away you go, it is best to also check the keyboard settings, so you know how to accelerate, steer and brake.

Of course, the field isn’t 100% accurate as it was made before the introduction of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo and of course the game doesn’t have the Holden Commodore and the Holden Calibra, so they have to be the Lumina but most gamers who love the era probably don’t care about that detail.
Thank you to Greg for making these car sets so long ago and to ‘JoeyMJ1’ for uploading them on Overtake.
