Robert Marchese was the 2025 OzTruck champion, he participated in three of the championship rounds and one non-championship round which was held at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Round 1 – Winton Motor Raceway
Practice went well for the driver of the #84 Chevrolet Silverado, third fastest behind Jeff and Daniel Stubbs with a best time of 1:34.1194.
Qualifying was a similar result, third with a time of 1:34.8742.
Race 1 was a lonely race for the #84 OzTruck in third position, the two Stubbs were well in front, and Brendan O’Connor was several seconds back in fourth in the #10 Chevrolet Silverado, the best lap time for the Silverado was a 1:33.9440.
Race 2 had similar results, another third-place finish as the #84 was well behind the lead two but had a good margin on the #10 Chevrolet Silverado that was running fourth, the #84 had a best lap time of 1:34.5620.
Race 3 which was held the next day was a different story; Jeff Stubbs had a narrow victory over Daniel Stubbs, and third place was a battle as Robert held off Brendan by just under a second, the best lap time for the #84 was a 1:35.5010.
Race 4 was a two-car race between Jamey Hollier and Troy Perichon and so the first round was in the books.
Round 2 – The Bend
Robert did not make the trip to South Australia for Stock Cars Australia’s first race in the state.
Round 3 – Sydney Motorsport Park
The third round of the season was the non-championship round at Sydney Motorsport Park
Stock Cars Australia was mixing it up with the G-LOC Brake Pads Super TT Championship field, it was a packed field which would have made some people very nervous.
The #84 qualified 37th having only made two qualifying laps.
Race 1 was a far better story for Robert; he finished 19th and had a best lap of 1:49.0951
Race 2 was an even better story as the #84 made it up to 13th and had a best lap time of 1:49.5501.
Race 3 was another improvement as the OzTruck finished in twelfth position with a best lap time of 1:47.0934.
To be just a few spots from the Top 10 in Races 2 and 3 after qualifying 37th was impressive.
Race 4 – One Raceway
The championship’s next stop was at One Raceway; this was the second time the field visited the track since its noise reducing reconfiguration.
The track was too noise reducing as a couple of runners were pinged for being too loud.
Twelve vehicles attempted qualifying and Robert bagged fifth place with a best lap of 1:09.9040.
Race 1 was a good race for the #84, a second fourth-place finish for the season was in the bag, a best time of 1:10.6960 was also the fourth fastest in the field.
Race 2 delivered a third fourth-place finish of the season for the #84 and Robert was less than a second from third-place finisher Barry Kelleher in the #31 Ford Mustang, the #84 had recorded a best lap time of 1:08.7700.
Race 3 was the first race on the Sunday, and it delivered a fourth third-place finish for the season and recorded a best lap time of 1:08.0830.
Race 4 saw the Stubbs duelling for the victory, the #84 was comfortable in third place in a race that took a chomp out of the field from a tyre failure for the #3 Lumina as the car was not perfectly set up due to the fact it was originally slated for display duties, a collision wiping out two and poor Michael Rice was busted for being too noisy.
Race 5 – Calder Park Raceway
The final race of the season was at Calder Park Raceway and anticipation was high, unfortunately after a pleasant Friday practice, Melbourne’s weather turned and gave the SCA field a bath for most of the next two days.
Practice saw the #84 in eighth position as the field shared the track with the Victorian Super TT runners, the weather was awful, and the vehicles needed urgent work to seal up the vehicles in all the right places.
Qualifying saw Richard White get Pole Position in what was becoming a happy hunting ground for the #8 Monte Carlo, starting right beside him was the #84, Robert thought that everybody was talking about somebody else when the topic came up in his garage.
Race 1 was run in awful conditions; water was pooling in sections of the track and had wiped out the #304 OzTruck driven by Mick Heppleston, the #84 stayed out of trouble and finished third.
Race 2 was run in even worse conditions, only four of the eleven starters finished on the lead lap and the #84 was the third of them, the #84 also took home the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:21.1518.
Race 3 started sweetly for the #84, a rain shower before the race had thrown all the set strategies out the window and the Silverado had a great start and was challenging the #41 Ford Thunderbird driven by Phil Muffet for the lead.
It was all over moments later as a mechanical failure forced the #84 out of the race but it was not out for the weekend as the SCA field got to work on replacing the broken part and putting in the new one.
Race 4 was held in the best conditions the whole weekend, it was a RWR 1-2 finish and Daniel Stubbs took the #45 Dodge Challenger to third position, and fourth place belonged to the #84 Chevrolet Silverado.
The OzTruck Championship also belonged to Robert Marchese and the #84 Chevrolet Silverado in a season that had really tested the OzTruck field.
