Tomorrow is the start of the big weekend at Calder Park Raceway, day one of the season finale.

Today was practice and it was quite an eventful day, while the weather looked tame with mostly cloudy conditions, the temperature did have some bite, much more than what is expected for the weekend.

It has been great to see everybody again, it is always worth the travel from Queensland no matter if it is done by air or by car, this year is the latter.

There were several sessions during the day, some of the field had arrived on Thursday and others arrived during the day.

The first few sessions went by without any problems and then things started to change.

The #8 Monte Carlo got stuck in the sand after a spin, the #3 had a carby issue, the #45 Dodge had a misfire, the #19 had an overheating issue and then had an exhaust tip issue and was towed back to the pits and the #41 Ford Thunderbird broke an axle.

It is the second meet in a row that the #41 has broken an axle, it was the other half that broke at One Raceway.

The #41 getting repaired, it was a success.

The mechanical issues had people going from one car to the other to help out or were going down the street to source replacement parts, the latter was difficult with the heavy Melbourne traffic.

While looking in on the #41, it was discovered it’s VIN was A 437 which is different to the other Stock Cars as the ones we’ve seen have A 0xx VINs.

In late entry news, Dave Brien in the Torana has joined the field which is great to see as the Muscle Division now has some representation in the field.

There’s a new YouTube channel offering Thunderdome videos, it is called Thunderdome Memories and the link has one of two videos currently available.

That is all for this edition of Aussie Stock Car News, a little different than the usual Friday edition but we hope it is just as enjoyable.

See you next week.
