There are 64 days to go until Round 5 racing action takes place at Calder Park Raceway, 63 days to go if you count the optional Friday practice.
Zac and team are working hard to find as many cars and vehicles as possible, if you have a Stock Car, AUSCAR, GTA, OzTruck or a car suitable for Muscle Division and you want to participate by racing or by having your vehicle on display, contact Stock Cars Australia as soon as you can.
Hopefully this will be read by owners who have a car close to Calder Park and think that it will be fun to dust their car off and have it on display or perhaps the car can be doing something else there too.
Last weekend saw Jack Perkins and Will Brown race at Portland in the Xfinity Series, Will Brown’s race ended up being ruined by mechanical issues and Jack Perkins got up to third but unfortunately made a mistake which put him off the road with five laps to go.
Some may choose to stick the boot in over the late mishap, but Jack showed that he was good with the #19 Supra and hopefully he will be rewarded with more opportunities in the future.
After a couple of Supercars drivers have given Cup, Truck and Xfinity events a go this year, Cup driver Austin Cindric is coming to Australia to have a crack at Supercars racing at Adelaide.
There’s no doubt that people will be dismissive of Austin’s chances of a good showing at Adelaide but one doesn’t know what will happen until it happens, Supercars may be his cup of tea, or it could be a weeklong nightmare, but we won’t know until it is done.
Richard White Racing published a new post last Tuesday going into detail about RWR’s visit to BJR, work continues on uncovering the history of ‘George’ as you’ll see in ‘Most Wanted’ further down this newsletter, while confidence is high on the identity of the car, we just cannot prove it and we’re hoping that somebody out there can.

Earlier this year, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival was held, and it was a big success and there was a good-sized attendance of Stock Cars and Trucks, Expressions of Interest for the 2026 edition are now open and hopefully there will be more to see in Adelaide next year.
When filling out the EOI, make sure that you pick the category ‘Special Interest’.
The #4 Chevrolet Silverado of Jeremy Gunson now has the number four on the truck and that’s not all, as you can see the truck’s former life with FDNY Racing is honoured with decals, also honoured is Stock Car Classics.
Eddie Ivermee continues to work on his #46 Oldsmobile, first up last weekend, the window net was mounted, and the gear shifter boot was put into place too.
Work on the differential (the diff) got underway and Eddie found that it was marked ‘L HR 5’ obviously it would mean ‘Left Hand Rear’ but no idea what the 5 means as it could be anything from team diff No. 5 to Car No. 5, considering that the Oldsmobile also has a #6 Ford Thunderbird part in it, the possibility of the diff coming from somewhere else from the original team/builder is a good possibility.

Unfortunately, there was some bad news this week, Phil Barkdoll passed away, Phil raced in Winston Cup competition from 1984 to 1997 and raced at Daytona and Talladega, Phil also raced in Australia and finished 8th at the Thunderdome in the exhibition race held in the 1990/91 season.
One of Phil’s cars was purchased by Ian Thomas who later sold it to Denzil Mead.
For the second consecutive year, we have passed 10,000 site hits for the year, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to stop by this year, it is greatly appreciated.
For Sale
There are 64 days to go until the 2025 edition of the Calder Classic, you’re looking for a car to buy to be part of the show this year and into the future, we have an option for you, it’s the #02 Ford Falcon XF Sportsman and the selling price is $20,000.
Let’s tell you a bit about it, it was driven by Tony Howlett and after the Thunderdome was closed, it was stored in a shed for many years until purchased by Brad Hall who found it to be in great condition, and he quickly got it into track running condition as you see in the photographs.
It has a 302 Cleveland engine and a 4-speed gearbox, an in-date harness has been installed so you the driver will cut laps on any track in great safety.
While the price may make some initially hesitant, remember that everything has been done for you, there is no need to source an engine or gearbox etc. which are both costly items, there is no need to spend months or years working on it, there is no need to make the car look good it is all there ready for you to race against the likes of the #54 Falcon, the #6 Falcon and many other fine AUSCAR/Sportsman vehicles four-five times a year.
Are you interested? Check out the ad on my105.com and/or contact Brad Hall for further discussion.
Most Wanted

Take a look at the left 3/4 window hatch on this Oldsmobile, it is the only Oldsmobile that Ian Thomas had that had this hatch, the question is where did the Olds come from? this car was used in one ARCA race at Michigan in June 1992 before being used for the 1992/93 Australian season.

Opinion is split, some say that Doug Taylor built it, and some say that it came from TriStar Motorsports and Doug reconditioned it, what we know for sure is that it was sold by Ian Thomas after the 1992/93 season to John Faulkner in time for the 1993/94 season and it ran with John, Eddie Abelnica and Paul Stocker until the end of the 2001 V8 Stock Cars season when it was driven by Doug Moss (Paul Stocker as owner).

We are looking for anybody who may know with absolute certainty where the above ex-Brad Jones, ex-Kim Jane Chevrolet Lumina ride car nicknamed ‘George’ came from.
We have two different opinions on this car; one is that it came from George Elliot (he isn’t sure about that) and the other is that it came from Walter Giles (the Giles family doesn’t believe that) and both arguments are very confident that they are correct.
It has been suggested that it is the Buick LeSabre of Walter Giles, we haven’t found anything to confirm or refute that, a report has been found that Walter’s original chassis went to Mark Harrison but we’re still looking into it.

The car has Oldsmobile parts like the rear bumper, roofline and deck lid, it has Lumina 3/4 windows, and the front was added later than the body.
On the dash there is an imprint of a square on the right side indicating that a plate was there at some time, had this remained we would have likely known its origin.

Pink was found in the surviving layers of body paint pointing its history towards Ron Goodman’s car for the Gold Coast in 1992 and Walter Giles who also had pink cars.

The #05 Ron Goodman Oldsmobile was an ex-George Elliot Oldsmobile as stated in the Round 4 1991/92 programme, it was originally claimed to be a car purchased from George, but a later publication said it was ‘lent’ (leased) to Ron by George, and it was given back to George.
As you can see, the right side of this Oldsmobile has a Lumina 3/4 window.

It appears that the Ron Goodman #05 also has a Lumina 3/4 window on its left side too making it a very odd-looking Oldsmobile, just as odd as ‘George’ is.
It would be interesting to know why the Oldsmobile was selected instead of a Lumina, was the #05 originally all Lumina? or was it previously all Oldsmobile and it was in the middle of a reskin?
Assuming it is the Elliot car, either George’s team fully changed the Goodman Oldsmobile into a Lumina after it was given back, or they just replaced the front to a Chevrolet Lumina after the Olds one took a beating on the Gold Coast, and it then served as a ride car with an Olds rear bumper.
Hopefully somebody who worked on George’s team in 1992 recalls a car going to Ron Goodman and then getting it back after the Gold Coast and knowing where it went next.
Somebody out there has to know for sure, Brad Jones getting a ride car had to be a pretty big deal as he only had ‘Elroy’ on hand early on, plus a ride car is a nice way to get more Stock Car laps in too and we believe that would make the car newsworthy.
See you next week.
