There are 16 days to go until the third round of the Australian Stock Car Championship is held at Sydney Motorsport Park.
If you are interested in entering, this is where you need to go to put in your entry, remember the category is Super TT, entries close on the 17th.
This week is a big one for Australians in NASCAR; Jack Perkins will make his Xfinity Series debut with Joe Gibbs Racing and Will Brown will be racing in Cup for the second time, Will is going to be driving the No. 13 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing.
The #14 Botheras Holden Commodore AUSCAR is looking great in new pictures taken on the 29th, the SCA is sticker on the windshield, plenty of sponsors, two ASCN stickers on the back window, it is all excellent.

Phil Muffet has shown Instagram users his #41 Ford Thunderbird, in the background is one of the two Pontiacs he is working on, the future of Stock Cars is bright with Phil, Jake, Eddie and Zac all working on Stock Cars to keep Scott, Richard and anybody who leases their cars company.
We have a new addition to the website, and it is ‘SCA Teams‘, it has links to all those teams that have Facebook pages or groups.

This week we helped Jeremy Gunson out by drafting an email to FDNY Racing containing everything we that know about the truck, hopefully it hasn’t gone to junk mail, and they will soon read it, and we learn something about the truck sometime in the near future.

Peter Sportelli says that Eddie Ivermee’s Oldsmobile was built by Doug Taylor even though Doug doesn’t recall building it, we’re waiting on additional information so we can sort it out once and for all.
It may annoy people when we’re cautious on accepting information but when you got differing opinions, you got to find additional material to sort it out, you don’t want to declare a car to be something when it is later found to not be the case, especially if you’re selling a car of theirs in the future.
Meanwhile Rob Mepham, owner of the #05 Sportsman has given his thoughts on what M#2 LH means on the #46 Oldsmobile.
‘M#2 LH= mounting number two left hand. Suggesting there were other prototype mounts prior?. I’ve used similar over the years. Eg: EM#3 LH= engine mount number three left hand or “near side”(NS) meaning nearest to the gutter side of the road in some cases, as apposed to off side.(OS). These designations were common in early engineering in Australia . Shocks( OSR) “off side rear” = “right hand rear” etc. Hope that helps .‘
V8 Sleuth reported more Calder Park news, seating from the Grand Prix will be moved into the Thunderdome for spectators to have somewhere to sit near the southern building and the circuit will have more seating and there may be a future for the grandstand too.
It would be cool to watch the Calder Classic in 2026 or 2027 and watch from the stand; it would be higher than the hill we usually watch it from.
Most Wanted

We are looking for anybody who may know where the above ex-Brad Jones, ex-Kim Jane ride car Lumina that has Oldsmobile parts (like the rear bumper) came from before Brad Jones owned it, we have two different opinions, one is that it came from George Elliot (he isn’t sure about that) and the other is it came from Walter Giles (the Giles family doesn’t believe that).

The right side 3/4 window is considered key; it is a Lumina 3/4 window; it is considered odd because it is surrounded by Oldsmobile parts.

Pink was found underneath in the surviving layers of paint pointing its history towards Ron Goodman’s car for the Gold Coast in 1992 and Walter Giles who also had pink cars.

The #05 Ron Goodman Oldsmobile was an ex-George Elliot Oldsmobile as stated in the Round 4 1991/92 programme, it was originally claimed to be a car purchased from George, but a later publication said it was ‘lent’ (leased) to Ron by George, and it was given back to George.
As you can see, the right side of this Oldsmobile has a Lumina 3/4 window.

It appears that the Ron Goodman #05 also has a Lumina 3/4 window on its left side too making it a very odd-looking Oldsmobile.
It would be interesting to know why the Oldsmobile was selected instead of a Lumina, was it originally all Lumina? or was it all Oldsmobile and it was in the middle of a reskin?
Either George’s team fully changed the Goodman Oldsmobile into a Lumina after it was given back, or they just replaced the front to a Chevrolet Lumina after the Olds one took a beating on the Gold Coast, and it then served as a ride car with an Olds rear bumper.
Hopefully somebody who worked on George’s team in 1992 recalls a car going to Ron Goodman and getting it back after the Gold Coast.
Somebody out there has to know for sure, Brad Jones getting a ride car had to be a pretty big deal as he only had ‘Elroy’ on hand early on, plus a ride car is a nice way to get more Stock Car laps in too.
That’s it for this week, another great week in Australian Stock Car racing.
See you next week.
