43 days to go until Round 2 racing gets underway at The Bend, 42 days if counting the optional practice day.
Entries are made by filling in this form and hopefully in a week or two we will see the VMRC put up the entry list and then we can start announcing entrants.
MotorsportArchives.com has uploaded footage from the first round of the season, eight minutes of the SCA field doing what they do best, no commentary just pure car sounds.
Hopefully the video will get plenty of likes in the groups it has been posted in and awareness of SCA spreads, there are many Stock Car lovers in Australia who wouldn’t know that SCA exists so hopefully we can reach more people.
We have a new update from the #31 AUSCAR team, it has been discovered that the rims have 31 engraved on them, a nice piece of the past history of the car.
Jake Frisch Motorsport has made a change, the #6 Pontiac will be the #4 Pontiac, four is a good number throughout the history of Stock Cars, Perry Schubert ran #4 in Australia and Ernie Irvan and Sterling Marlin raced a #4 in the United States along with others like Kevin Harvick.

The team are continuing to work hard on the car and while it doesn’t appear like much is happening on the outside, quite a lot has happened as we detailed last week, and they’ve gone even further this week.
There are plenty of cars out there that are in the process of restoration, it is a time and money consuming effort, but we will see the cars on the track in the future, no doubt about it from the #4 Pontiac to the #46 Oldsmobile.
The Marcos Ambrose Toyota Chassis has been marked as sold on My105, there are still options out there for those wanting to join Stock Cars Australia like the #02 Ford XF Falcon Sportsman, 20k will get you in the action, no building of the car is required.
If you have a car for sale, let us know so we can put it in the Vehicles for Sale list, completely free, will put in as many pictures as you like, there has never been a better time to test the waters, your car can be complete or half complete, if somebody is willing, they’ll grab it.

Here’s some history for you, the original #7 Oldsmobile in the above magazine had done a lap of Bathurst in 1986 before that years Bathurst 1000, it was driven by Graham McRae, we say original because a few months later, there was a different #7 testing out the Thunderdome.
By December 1986, the original #7 was finished, the Coca Cola #9 was almost ready, three others were being made, 11 frame kits were stacked up in piles and four Thunderbirds were in the USA, that was the status of the original 20 ordered vehicles (plus the ex-Bouchard car).
For those who like their history, you can get that December 1986 edition of Modern Motor on eBay and in it is five pages about the #7 Oldsmobile, if you like Allan Grice, there is a report on the Bathurst 1000 and hopefully a Grice/Bailey poster still in it too for those who collect those.

We still haven’t had success with finding out for sure where the TCR/JFR car ‘Intrepid’ came from, this car came to Tropic Coast Racing in 1992, it was first run in ARCA at Michigan before the 1992/93 season started, it was then used in Round 1 of the 1992/93 season with great success before it went off to JFR for the 1993/94 season as TCR went into mainly using a Lumina.
Intrepid is a very American name so hopefully somebody remembers it standing out among Elvis, Destiny, Bubba, George and so many more.

As usual, we’re looking for anybody who knows where this ex-Brad Jones and Kim Jane ride car came from, Brad Jones is sure it came from George Elliot, George isn’t sure and some say it was actually Walter Giles who had it, unfortunately we haven’t found any proof to figure out who is right and when tracing history we do need something written or spoken from the time to back up memory, hopefully somebody is reading this and has the answer.
That’s it for this week, a week that has had the lot and that’s the way we like it.
See you next week.
