There are 50 days to go until the racing starts at The Bend located in Tailem Bend, South Australia for those who don’t know about the facility.
Entries are open for the round and there is plenty of time to think about joining the action and we hope that people are able to take the opportunity to come to South Australia and help SCA break in new ground, SA will be the fourth state to host an SCA round.

Last weekend was a big weekend for Stock Car racing in Australia because we had cars at Adelaide Motorsport Festival and Round 1 at Winton.
18 Stock Car family vehicles in action in Australia on the same weekend, two different groups of people got to see action on the track, and some got to learn something new which is something very important to us.
Richard White and Zac O’Hara got to meet Barry Graham, and they like him, lucky men getting the opportunity to meet a man who became a champion in the sport and helped enable the masses to have the opportunity to drive a Stock Car, something that previously only the well off and professionals could do.
Calder Park in November is going to be interesting especially as SCA AUSCAR is a chance of hitting 10 entries as there are six regulars, four more are incoming and there’s a few more out there too.
Here is the Round 1 recap and the two Adelaide Motorsport Festival reports here and here for your reading enjoyment.
Check out the first twelve or so minutes of the latest Apex Hunters United episode for their thoughts on Adelaide, Scott Pye tells the story of how the steering wheel came off the #8 Monte Carlo.
Hopefully Elliot and Scott found the experience with the #3 Lumina and the #8 Monte Carlo enjoyable enough to want to consider having a go in an SCA round or two someday.
Meanwhile George Elliot has been reminded that his drive is due and hopefully one day the stars will align, and he will have a drive which would be a welcome experience.
Midnight Resto’s Motorsport on March 9 gave everybody an update on the Jake Frisch #6 Pontiac.
It is great watching the step-by-step process of putting a race car together, everybody learns, and you get to see people being rewarded for their efforts.
Don’t forget car builders if you do need something or you want to know something, speak up because if people can help you out, they will help you out, but they got to know first.

Check this out for obscure, a NASCAR single actually recorded by the drivers, I hope they were well paid for ‘Ninety-Nine Bottles Of Beer (On The Wall) and ‘When The Saints Go Marching In’.

We are edging closer to figuring out the story of Eddie Ivermee’s Oldsmobile, we know Doug Taylor worked on the car, but it had to come from somewhere, the problem is that Ian Thomas brought a lot of cars and naturally details can be forgotten over time, or information gets jumbled up between cars like Car 1’s details could be put in with details about Car 4.
This car was raced in Michigan in June 1992, so it is likely it was brought soon after the conclusion of the 1991/92 season as it was ready to go in Australia by Round 1 of the 1992/93 season.
We’ve looked at Hagan Racing, Morgan-McClure, Precision Products Racing, Leo Jackson Motorsports, Tri-Star Motorsports, Phil Barkdoll Racing and RahMoc Enterprises.
If anybody has programmes from 1992/93, have a look in them in case they mention where the Oldsmobile came from as sometimes, it has happened a couple of times so maybe we’ll get some luck there.
Remember, this car was nicknamed ‘Intrepid’, a name that stands out, hopefully it will stand out in somebody’s mind and provide the answer.

Thanks to Ash Davies, we have learned a little more about Tropic Coast Racing and added two more car names to the names list, ‘Elvis’ and ‘Lucky Suzy’.
Ash also mentioned that TCR had a Phil Barkdoll car and so we researched Phil’s cars to see if any fit Eddie Ivermee’s car, as you see in the Lee Johnson collection a Barkdoll car from 1992 and Denzil Mead’s car from 1993/94 have the same 3/4 window hatch and this car was then used by Bob Middleton, PBR only raced part-time so there were not a stack of cars around.

What does the above mean well to put simply it means I got to figure out if Denzil Mead had two Olds or Motorsport News was mistaken and the said ex-Morgan-McClure Olds was really a Barkdoll car, unfortunately it is in the gap where information is incomplete.
Last but not least, we’re still searching for anybody who definitely knows the origin of the Oldsmobile looking Chevrolet Lumina that went from George Elliot to Brad Jones (and named George) to Kim Jane etc. to serve as a ride car and is believed to have been used in races pre-1994/95 season likely to fill in for a race or two for somebody.
That’s it for this week, what a week it has been and there will be plenty more good weeks to come so be like Aerosmith and don’t miss a thing.
See you next week.
