There are 42 days to go until the season opener at Winton and 43 days until the Adelaide Motorsport Festival which will feature some of the Stock Cars Australia competitors introducing Stock Cars Australia to Adelaide.

Eddie Ivermee’s #46 Oldsmobile made its Show N’ Shine debut at the Colac Motorfest last weekend.
This ex-Ian Thomas, John Faulkner, Eddie Abelnica, Paul Stocker and Doug Moss driven car was different to most of the cars at the Motorfest and it will sure be different next year when the car is back on track and looking like a lean, mean, #46 Oldsmobile machine.
Eddie has been looking closely at the car and has found a couple of markings such as ‘1542’ and ‘M#2’, what they mean could be anything from chassis number to parts numbers, as the car has been with a couple of teams it could be original team, TCR, JFR or Stocker even Donald Hudson on the salt flats.

Jake Frisch’s #6 Pontiac is taking shape with the engine mounts now measured up, the centreline of the car was measured, and the dummy block and the gearbox was fitted up.
The diff housing will be coming out this weekend and will need modification as it is still set for oval racing not the road courses that we have to use these days; it is believed that the car was being converted when work ceased on the car in the 90s.
Over in Western Australia, Jeremy Gunson has been working away on his ex-Kenny Wallace Driving Experience truck.
Paul Zemunik as well as Josh and Steve Dale have been a great source of information and help for Jeremy as he gets the Truck that started life as a Dodge and ended up as a Chevrolet closer to hitting the track.
Mick Heppleston last Friday shown the members of Speedway Sedans his #41 Ford Thunderbird as the car had previously belonged to Gene Cook.
The car was previously run by Chad Little (early 90s pre-Roush stint) and was then purchased by Charlie O’Brien, you can read all the facts in the above slideshow.
The picture got plenty of attention with just nearly 350 likes showing that Gene, the car, Mick or all of the above are popular over in the speedway sedans group.
The V8 Sleuth staff this week told the story of how the Duckhams sponsored #1 Ford Falcon Stock Car driven by Jim Richards was heavily damaged in a crash in 1990.
Mike Oliver had the #38 Ford Falcon (where did that one go?) and Jerry Bowers (#83) Gene Cook had a go in their same but altered over time Falcon and that car was written off in the crash with Robert Tinworth.
Fans get to ask the sleuth a question, Zac wasted no time in asking about an Australian NASCAR book, ASCN wholeheartedly endorses the question.

We have been asking how the AUSCAR VIN system worked, did the first 32 cars in 1988 get A 001 to A 032? Did they get handed out when a new car and chassis turned up at the Thunderdome etc.
Richard has A 053 for the #3 Lumina, Eddie has A 066 for the #46 Oldsmobile that as mentioned earlier was run by Ian Thomas, Eddie Abelnica, Paul Stocker and Doug Moss.
If A 066 first turned up in the season opener of the 1992/93 season, where did the #3 Lumina appear? the gap of only 13 numbers suggests 1990/91 or 1991/92 when the NASTRAK owned car was pressed into service.
The question is who used it for racing? George Elliot? Walter Giles? Ron Goodman? Somebody from the history gaps from the 1990/91 and 1991/92 seasons?
As most of us know, there is no registry, so we have to do things the hard way and I truly wish it was an exaggeration, but it is unfortunately not as missing details do make things difficult.
Remember we’re always looking out for somebody who taken photos of the NASTRAK cars and are looking for any descriptions of the non-Morgan-McClure Oldsmobile of Ian Thomas.

Jake Frisch’s Pontiac which we know was a Lawes Brothers Oldsmobile has the VIN of 0042 which is interesting as the Lawes car would have been racing around the beginning of the sport in Australia.
Perhaps they lost their original VIN or something, wish we knew.
The above video may interest some people, it is about lines, techniques and overtakes at Calder Park Raceway, it may come in handy for some people who will have their first race there in November.
