On this 1st day of Christmas (had to remember the song), ASCN gives to you Edition #65.
As anticipated in Edition #64, Botheras family racing auscar adventure has reached 300 members and it looks like sponsorship opportunities have opened up on the #14 plus they are working on crew shirts too, got to admire their progress.
These are very exciting times for the SCA AUSCAR/Sportsman field, people do love saying exciting/excited, but it is legitimately exciting because you’ve got the #14, the #38 and the #31 coming and there are a few more SCA AUSCAR/Sportsman eligible vehicles out there so there is the potential of double figures in 2025 from just the SCA AUSCAR/Sportsman lineup if availability is perfect.
‘Thunderdome… the book…. Yes? No?‘ That was the question by V8 Sleuth last Saturday and the answers came rushing in.
It is a popular idea based on what is seen looking around, and it looks like people do have a wish list of what they want to see in it from being truthful to covering drivers from the popular ones to the ones who drove with very little attention given to them.
The Calder Park Thunderdome page have some interesting opinions in there, some of those opinions may or may not come as a surprise to people.
V8 Sleuth does have all those Motorsport News editions to read when they need information and no doubt that they have a pretty good selection of photos to choose from, there are some 200 editions of Motorsport News that contain some kind of news from car building to results to the chaotic final years of the Bob Jane era, they’ll need another source for 1988-1992 material, a few years earlier if covering construction of the Thunderdome.
From personal experience, time period written or video recorded information is king over memories when it comes to Stock Cars, AUSCAR, Sportsman etc., the Bob Jane era started 36 years ago, and the ending was twenty-four years ago, memories change, things get forgotten, details become mixed with other events while written accounts from the time period are more accurate and video too.
Don’t forget Stock Car fans to keep snapping up copies of the two Thunderdome DVDs, they cost around $22.95 apiece, who knows, maybe it will inspire them to make a third one.

Last week it was said that the Joys and Agonies of Car Research post would be posted but it has been delayed as the journey of uncovering the secrets of the #3 Lumina may be coming to an end in the next few days as somebody who had worked on the car pre-Brad Jones has made contact and believes that they have the answer.
If we do receive information that solves the #3 mystery, then we’ll need to do a rewrite otherwise just keep on going with what we have planned.
Speaking of research, does anybody know where the Eddie Abelnica Oldsmobile’s went or the Paul Stocker Oldsmobile’s and one for the V8 Stock Cars crowd, whose car was Doug Moss driving?

As the year is winding down, I’ve taken some time to play some Assetto Corsa on the PC, I’m not a simulator person as I get extra squirmy in a seat surrounded by stuff, so keyboard driving is my style, there are some fan made Thunderdome tracks but they either don’t work or the track has been tweaked but it is fun to use the fan made Stock Cars at Bathurst.
We have some news coming up for you next week, some people already know it but we’re waiting until everything is in place and then we can tell the full story, but it is good news.
See you next week.
