Seven days to go until the final round of the season takes place at One Raceway.
So far, we have a great field to wrap up the season, we will have some regulars missing as Calder Park did take a bite out of some of the field plus prior commitments etc., but there will be additional entries to the below list by the time practice starts on the twenty-fifth.
Robert Marchese
Danny Burgess
Daniel Stubbs
Brad Lighton
Brett Mitchell
Mark Granger
Brendan O’Connor
Michael Rice
Lukas Gates
Long range weather forecasts suggest 18-to-20-degree days for the weekend, maybe a slight chance of some rainfall.
The schedule is now available to take a look at, here is the important information as it currently stands
There are three practice sessions for Friday, they start at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 3:45pm.
Qualifying is on Saturday at 9:22am, followed by Race 1 at 11:45am, Race 2 is at 2:30pm.
All four races should be on YouTube while Race 2 and Race 4 will most likely be on SBS on Demand, only the Friday practice and Qualifying will not be broadcast, we will investigate that.
MotorsportArchives.com has put together a video of all the fun that was had on the Thunderdome, it is amazing seeing just how bumpy the ride was though it didn’t really feel that bad in the passenger seat of the #3, speed must be some sort of compensator for the bumps.
The video has today reached 1,000 views and congratulations go out to Roy Ellery for making a great video.
This last week has been spent going through more Motorsport News editions in the hopes of finding out stuff about the cars you see in Stock Cars Australia, got to admit the buying of the editions became an addiction and soon $350 was spent in about the space of a fortnight, perhaps we are V8 Sleuth’s best customer when it comes to buying the online magazines.
While we’ve come up empty on information on the #3 Lumina, we haven’t finished the week empty handed as we did find out quite a bit about the early life of some of the SCA vehicles, here are some examples.
Laurence Mckinnon’s #25 Ford Thunderbird was already cool because it was Terry Wyhoon’s first Stock Car, but the car actually was in Australia a few years earlier because Morgan Shepherd drove it at the Thunderdome in 1994 when it was owned by the Nissen’s.
Mick Heppleston’s #41 Ford Thunderbird was originally a Charlie O’Brien raced car, it was then brought by Gene Cook after his Falcon got written off, Gene Cook nicknamed the car ‘Charlie’ after its previous owner.
We found out when Jamey Hollier sold his #15 Ford Falcon, it was around December 1996, and it quickly became the #77 Falcon and now it is in the hands of Cole Davis.
Brad Jones’ three Stock Cars were sold around January 1998, the ride car was not part of the deal.
We got to read all about the development of Zac’s #27 Monte Carlo and Richard White’s #5 Monte Carlo, the arrival of the Monte Carlo really changed Australian Stock Car racing.
Visitors to our website will notice a new section up the top called ‘Most Wanted’ this is where mysteries of the Australian Stock Car scene are placed in the hopes somebody has the answers, so far nobody does but our luck can always change.
A Buy/Sell section is being considered if people want to sell their vehicles or are wanting to buy one.
That’s the news this week, hopefully it was found to be very useful and entertaining.
See you next week with the last round preview and then it is on to the recap of the round and then time to go through the archives and recap the 2024 season.
