35 days to go until Round 3 of the Australian Stock Car Championship gets underway at Calder Park Raceway.
No action on the online entry list at the moment but as we get into a month to go, it should start to change, and the fun really begins.
MotorsportArchives.com has put together a compilation of the Saturday and Sunday action at Winton, if you haven’t given the channel a like on YouTube, please do so and get it over 1,000 subscribers.
We sure got people talking this week when we were talking about the costs of a vehicle, one chap managed to anger a lot of people with thoughts like ‘Motor Sport in Australia is locked in a time warp unnecessarily with too many categories featuring old fashioned bomb cars no longer in production.‘ and pushing for car upgrades.
Some people choose to drive an AUSCAR or past generations of Stock Cars etc. for budget reasons, some because their vehicle suits their skills, some because they want to try the car out for themselves, others as a stepping stone to other vehicles and other reasons but they race them for their enjoyment.
Nobody around SCA is ever going to pressure a SCA driver to upgrade their vehicles, if a driver wants their car to be period correct, that’s the way they do it, if they want a recent generation car, they go for it, it is their time, their money and their enjoyment.
‘old fashioned bomb cars’ as much as it was rude was also amusing, ‘bomb’ takes me back to High School when most country kids got their first car in Year 12, and it was a paddock basher not a $10,000 to $50,000 or higher race car that we see on tracks around Australia.
The AUSCAR #31 page is up to 31 followers/likes, we know we can find more supporters out there so please do consider giving it a like/follow, while this was written up, a new post was made so check it out.
Richard White Racing has 30 likes and 72 followers, a good total for the two-car team.
Cole Davis continues to make strides in getting his Ford Falcon readied for action, it looks good, it sounds good and soon people will see it doing good.
The Marcos Ambrose Toyota Chassis has dropped in price, it is now advertised at $17,500 down from $30,000.
Work continues on identifying the #3 Lumina, there are so many cars in the George Elliot stable that it could have been, it has been a long process tracing every known car.
Along the way, we discovered the ex-Johnny Rutherford #31 engine went into the #2 Oldsmobile, that #2 car had a massive accident in April 1991 and was destroyed, the #55 Cutlass is believed to have been changed into a Lumina (not the one we seek).
We were looking for an Oldsmobile Cutlass but the #31 was actually a Delta 88 so we’re looking into that just in case the #31 was made into a ride car, for all we know it could also be the one Steve Cosson drove over Walter Giles’ car on the Gold Coast, that one became a Commodore and was last seen in Germany.
There was a yellow Elliot Pontiac that also needs a look at as Banjo chassis’ appeared to be the option for Pontiacs, we won’t give up looking as one day a photo will appear or a line of text will tell the story.
Remember SCA AUSCAR drivers to post something in AUSCAR Racing about your cars weekly to keep things flowing in the group, it helps the category stay visible to people between rounds.
That’s the news and views of the week, thank you for joining us on this 50th edition of Aussie Stock Car News.
