There is one week to go before Round 3 action kicks off at Winton and we have plenty of news for you this week.
Colin Matton is going to be making his series debut in the #2 VN Commodore, this car was one of the SCA AUSCARs that were tested at Calder Park recently.
Brad Lighton is back and this time he’ll be running the #26 VS Commodore, another car new to the series, Brad ran a race in the #7 AUSCAR at Calder Park last year and done laps in the car during the Thunderdome exhibition.
Troy Perichon and Robert Marchese put their entries in to bring the online field number to eleven.
We know that the Richard White Racing cars are coming, so that makes it thirteen and the #51 is back in action so that’s fourteen entries and if there is any more, things will be even sweeter.
Gone are the days of Stock Cars Australia struggling to have a field by the last race of the weekend, we’re in good times no matter how crazy the world around us gets.
The good news for Winton is that there is no category sharing this round and Race 1 is on Saturday at 11:50am, Race 2 is on at 3pm while Sunday will have Race 3 at 10:25am and Race 4 is at 1:40pm.
Don’t forget all the important information for the round can be found on this link from garage allocation to e-tickets and we will have a round preview for you next week.
Brett Mitchell joined the Super TT field at SMP last weekend and had done well by finishing 6th, 5th and 2nd, a good weekend for the #8 OzTruck but that is not unusual as we all know.
The #31 AUSCAR continues to get a restoration done on it, a picture was shared on Facebook this week showing the 31 looking all nice and bright, it was buried deep in a post about the car from 2022.
An XR8 front bumper and mould for AUSCARs were put on sale this week, there aren’t a lot of Ford AUSCAR owners out there, but the mould can really become handy especially the opportunity to make spares as we know spares are at a premium.
There was an Oldsmobile wrapped in the Days of Thunder #46 was for sale this week, but the ad for it is gone from Facebook.
The #1 Pontiac has been marked sold, we wish the new owner the best of luck and we hope that they know there are plenty of people to ask for help or advice from.
Research news is good this week, thanks to Shayne Hunter we got given an article showing that the #3 Lumina had both the white and the blue #8 BJR paint jobs so that identifies another paint layer for us, but we’re still stuck on the pink layer.
We’ve been spending the week tracing all the Barry Blake cars, we know Phil Muffet has the car that started as the #02 Fosters car which was turned into the #7 which was turned into the #17 and it ended up with a Pontiac body, Ian Searls has the #55 that turned into the #7 and Richard White has the #5 that was turned into the #7 and will be the #5 again.
There is one Barry Blake car that is a mystery, this fate most wanted known car was the #26 Quaker State Buick Regal car before it became the #7, it then went on to be somebody else’s ride and that’s where the trail ends, does anybody out there know the answer?
There’s a lot of restoring happening at the moment and it will all be covered from start to finish so an online record is kept for those to look back hopefully fondly, drafts have been prepared for Phil’s, Ian’s and Richard’s cars.
If anybody else wants their restoration progress written down, drop a line and we’ll get started right away.
That’s the news for this week, an action-packed week and we look forward to next week, we’ll be on the eve of Round 3 and then it is a case of accelerate, flag and action!
