21 days to go until Round 3 of the 2024 Australian Stock Car Championship takes place at Winton.

The first batch of entries came in this week, Michael Rice, Danny Burgess, Scott Nind, Daniel Stubbs and Jeff Stubbs are the first five entrants in.

A strong field is predicted for Winton, it is one of Stock Cars Australia’s most popular tracks with the track able to be reached by most of the teams.

Don’t be alarmed if the numbers look light, it looks like the list gets updated every few days, so all is ok, things are in much better shape.

This week was a week of change, as you probably have noticed, Aussie Stock Car News has a new look, Roy Ellery worked on the new design in a very smooth and efficient process and we’re very happy with the result, so is everybody else judging by the number of likes on FB.

Roy made further news this week as his site MotorsportArchives.com was named media partner for Stock Cars Australia so expect a nice array of videos and pictures from Roy for the rest of the season just like the pictures and film from Calder Park last year.

We hit 5000 site views for the year this week, it is the second year in a row that we’ve done it and we’re around 700 views away from setting a new record, this may be achieved by the end of next month.

Research into the #3 Lumina continues, it is not NASTRAK #01 as Adam Pay still has that one as the #44, all hopes are on Larry McInnes who provided details a couple of years ago and may remember more details than anybody else about the car though it appears he may not know that he has messages as they probably went straight into message requests.

What we really want to know is what did the #8 ride car look like when it got to Brad Jones Racing, was it still going around as an Oldsmobile, was it already a Lumina, was it already blue or did it arrive in a different colour?

Paint scraping of the front revealed no pink paint layer which indicates the front end appears to have been installed close or into the Brad Jones ride car era.

Research on the #8 Monte Carlo is starting to bear fruit, Joe Bessey has been reached and Richard White may finally get to know exactly which JBR car he has, it may be the last car the team raced which was at Phoenix in 2000, it appears that this particular car had its parts and pieces fitted in June 1999, so many possibilities and hopefully the man himself has the answers.

Are there any Stock Cars or AUSCARs that haven’t popped up yet considered to be ‘Most Wanted’? It is an interesting question as for example there seems to be few Thunderbirds still around compared to the Chevrolet Lumina and Monte Carlo and the Pontiac Grand Prix (that’s back in fashion) and undoubtedly some cars have slipped the net, or they are really plying their trade as a different number.

Don’t forget Stock Car and AUSCAR restorers that you can drop a line and ASCN will have a section devoted to the step by step rebuild of your car so there will always be a record of your effort and posted the moment the car is ready to roar.

That’s the news for this week, hope everybody is doing well wherever you are around the world.
