The second round of the 2024 Australian Stock Car Championship gets underway at Queensland Raceway on Friday and it has been a long but enthusiastic wait.
The National Circuit is where the action takes place, 3.126km of action per lap with six turns and plenty of places to show how nice the Stock Cars look, sound and how fast they can go.
Entries
Those who had checked out the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series website over the last month may have been a bit alarmed to see the entry of Danny Burgess all by its lonesome.
Don’t worry fans because Brett Mitchell, Danny Burgess, Robert Marchese, George Kulig, Scott Nind, Jeff Stubbs and Daniel Stubbs are here to race so there is nothing to worry about.
Six regulars coming to Queensland is not bad at all, it is expensive and time consuming to get up to Queensland and so the majority of the regulars coming up is a great thing and mechanical issues robbed us of a few more making an appearance like Mick Heppleston and Zac O’Hara.
The eighth entry is George Kulig, George has raced with Stock Cars Australia before and won a race at Sydney Motorsport Park in February 2022.
George raced the #9 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Lakeside Park in April and recorded a third-place finish and a win in the Replica Tourers & Outlaws category so the #9 is in fine form.

Defending champion Scott Nind had a less-than-ideal start to the season at SMP when mechanical issues forced the champ to miss the first round, but the Mustang driver is back and ready to put on a show.

Championship leader Brett Mitchell will be looking to consolidate his points lead this round, he’ll have plenty of challengers which will make things interesting, it may even be beneficial for the #8 OzTruck depending on where everybody finishes.

Danny Burgess is one to look out for, the further into the weekend we go, the better the #7 OzTruck seems to be, Top 3 finishes is not out of the question.

Robert Marchese in the #84 OzTruck is a consistent driver and the #84 is a dependable OzTruck, this combination gets better as a weekend goes on and they will do well.

Jeff Stubbs, the most recent winner in the championship is back again in the Dodge Challenger, the ex-TA2 car could make things very interesting.
Daniel Stubbs made his debut at SMP in the #19 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, hopefully Daniel will be able to do all four races and get more time in the car.
Anything can happen this round, Scott Nind’s Mustang has been nearly unbeatable since Scott started in Stock Cars Australia but if Brett Mitchell can stick close to the Mustang and put some pressure on, if Jeff Stubbs shows good pace, if George Kulig is just as good as he was in the round in 2022 or Danny Burgess has the late race burst of speed, anything is possible.
