Welcome to the first edition of Aussie Stock Car News for 2024, it is great to be here with you for another year, a year that promises to be a big one and we can make it happen.

Calder Park was a hive of activity on Wednesday as the flat track was open for business, cars of all different shapes and sizes hit the track to log laps as off-seasons are drawing closer to an end.

Brad Hall and Richard White were two of the drivers that were there with the former taking the #02 Ford Falcon and the latter taking the #8 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

After a couple of hours on Calder Park Raceway, the fun moved to the Thunderdome where cars got to go around the entire Thunderdome and at a good clip of speed as you will see in video provided by Motorsport Fan who has recently reached 200 subscribers.

Richard was hitting 220kph in Turns 1 and 3 and had a lap timed at 35.5 seconds, not bad at all for a car not fully setup for an oval, an oval track that has seen better days and of course Richard was driving smartly and minimalised the risk of the car ending up in the wall.

The #17 Tony Southwell car has been sold and is now in the hands Phil Muffet, the good news is that we’ll be able to watch its progress as it gets restored, Phil will find no shortage of help as he navigates the waters of Stock Car restoration.

Cole Davis continues to work on his Ford Falcon AUSCAR, that car has come a long way since Cole purchased it, it was a dirty with bits of rubbish inside it shell with a lot missing inside and out, but Cole has purchased a lot of parts to complete the shell, an engine has been installed and it sounds great, there is quite a bit to go but the effort is inspiring.

The Stock Car Preservation Project is another source of all your 1988-00 (hasn’t got 01-02 yet) Australian Stock Car needs, they are the unsliced versions of the videos seen on Robo’s Super Channel as some of those were presented in multiple parts.

One thing about the 88-02 era is that Channel 7 and SBS had some great camera angles to present the action.

Thank you for taking the time to read the latest news and information in the Australian Stock Car world.
