One week to go until Stock Cars Australia take to Sydney Motorsport Park for two days of good racing and hopefully no wrecks and no mechanical issues.
This week we had Brendon Hourigan and Rod Gurney put their entries in, Rod makes his first appearance for the 2023 season in the Ford Falcon, that Falcon is a beautifully presented car, and it is good to have Rod back in the series though somebody better change the entry sheet as it reads Rob Gurney.
The total stands at 10 for the round and hopefully a few more entries will come in before the close of entries on October 10.
The field is smaller than the round at Calder Park as the #25 is getting its engine ready (Laurie is back in the #82 Falcon though), #27 has engine issues, Richard White will be away, but his #3 and #8 Stock Cars are getting worked on, Lukas Gates will be away too and the #41 has gearbox issues but the chances are good for all the cars to return for the season finale at Winton.
Josh and Brendon Hourigan will be doing double duty on the race weekend as both are entered in the Legend Cars Australia series. Josh is entered in the #2 Ford 37 Coupe and Brendon is in the #37 Chevrolet Sedan.
It is too early for a full forecast, but Friday appears to be a sunny day and 27 degrees so hopefully Saturday is a good day too and we don’t have weather like last year when it threatened to rain all weekend with rain falling everywhere but at SMP.
This week a photo frame of 18 photos will be going up in my dining room, these 18 are from the Calder Park adventure that we had in August, and it will be there to look at every dinner time as a spur to make repeat visits and maybe one day get to own a car but that will take a lot of no spending and recycled cans to get there.
Exciting news as iRacing has taken the game making license from Motorsport Games so the chances of a good NASCAR game by 2025 have increased dramatically.
Thank you for taking the time to read the latest going happenings in the Australian Stock Car world.
Fast Fact: If you ever do play NASCAR 21: Ignition, remember to go either full to the inside or full to the outside line upon the start or restart as you’ll end up in the back of the cars in front of you.
