We’re a week through July and it already has been a crazy month but first there are 36 days to go until the racing takes place at Calder Park Raceway.
So, New Zealand’s Shane van Gisbergen (or just simple SVG) went over to the United States to race in the Cup race in Chicago that was held last Monday, to the surprise of the Americans he won but to Australians and New Zealanders, it was no surprise.
His win has caused a major surge in searches for Australian NASCAR though they were probably looking for New Zealand, we’ve had a 131% increase in visits over the last thirty days, most of those in the last week.
Meanwhile at Townsville, the previous generation #9 NAPA Chevrolet has been doing laps at the circuit that the Supercars are currently using, Jett Johnson has been doing the driving just like he had done over at an event in Adelaide.
As some of you know, I’ve been giving NASCAR 21: Ignition a play and while it looks beautiful, it has a lot of coding issues especially at the start of a race and during restarts as the field slows right down for reasons they never fixed.
So that’s the week, it will be interesting to see what happens next week as we approach one month to go.
Thank you for taking the time to read the latest going happenings in the Australian Stock Car world.
Fast Fact: Barry Blake raced at Winton in 2002, the unique thing about this is that he was not driving the #7 that he usually raced.
