There are 57 days to go before the racing gets underway at Calder Park Raceway, that’s August 12-13 for newcomers, Stock Cars Australia has created an event on Facebook for people to get news and information from.

Calder Park Raceway roared to life today as Scott Nind taken the #16 Ford Mustang out for a run.

There’s no doubt that the ex-Xfinity Series car would have woken up anybody who was still sleeping in the suburbs that surround the facility, the above video by Brad Hall will show you just how fast and how loud the #16 Mustang is.

There was big interest from Stock Car fans this week when Mick Heppleston shown a picture of the #41 Ford Thunderbird getting worked on for the Calder Park round, over three hundred likes were received with people asking when the Calder Park round will be held.

Peter Bowden once again went looking for information on his AUSCAR that spent many years at Wakefield Park, before it was the #36 at Wakefield it was the #5 VP Commodore belonging to John Agosta.

Agosta’s car was one of the AUSCAR’s that taken on a wet and miserable Bathurst in 1999, the car survived the encounter when many AUSCAR’s and Future Tourers spun out and found themselves into Bathurst’s many walls and sand traps.

It turned out that John did answer Peter’s call for information years ago, but it appears that the message may have gone to message requests, a feature that a lot of people don’t know about in Facebook Messenger.

So many people have been unintentionally snobbed on Facebook because instead of going to inbox, the message went to message requests and people either don’t know about it or check it and yeah one person waits for a response that will seemingly never come.

Those who love nostalgia will be very pleased to know that Motorsport Fan has compiled and released an almost two-hour long highlights package from the 2001 V8 Stock Cars season.

There was plenty of thrills and spills that season and the season ended with a thrilling finish, be sure to check it out, we also got the points totals for the top eight finishers too.

The cars of Rusty French, Barry Blake, Dick Howe, Mark Harrison and Chris Templer are either still running with different owner/drivers in the Australian Stock Car Championship run by Stock Cars Australia or are in the process of being restored for competition.

Rusty’s #2 car is the #27 of Zac O’Hara, Barry’s #7 car is now owned by Richard White and will be the #5, Dick Howe’s car is now Laurence Mckinnon’s and will be the #25, Mark Harrison’s car is owned by Zac and Chris’ car is now owned by Adam Blattman.

What a week it has been and as we get closer to August, the news will only get bigger.

Fast Fact: When Chris Templer raced the #3 Pontiac for the first time in 2001, it was still in the Valvoline colours that the car had several years earlier when Allan Grice drove the car.

Thank you for taking the time to read the latest going happenings in the Australian Stock Car world.
