Head to Head – Edition #1

December 14 2021

While we’re in the off season for Stock Cars Australia (aka ASCC), we will do things like doing some head to heads and take a closer look at vehicles.

Today we take a look at the two leading OzTruck drivers and they are Stephen Chilby and Brett Mitchell, both of them are SCA champions.

Brett Mitchell – 2nd, DNF, 2nd and 2nd
Result: 4-0 Stephen Chilby

Wakefield Park 2020

Brett Mitchell – 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 3rd
Result: 4-0 Stephen Chilby

Sydney Motorsport Park 2020

Stephen Chilby – 1st, 1st, 3rd and 1st
Brett Mitchell – 2nd, 2nd, 1st and 2nd

Wakefield Park II 2020

Stephen Chilby – 1st, 1st, 1st and 1st
Brett Mitchell – 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and DNF

Sydney Motorsport Park 2021

Stephen Chilby: 4th and 3rd
Brett Mitchell: 1st and 1st
Result: 2-0 Brett Mitchell

Overall result: 15-3 Stephen Chilby

There’s no question that Stephen Chilby dominated 2020 after arriving on the OzTruck scene in the latter part of 2019.

The 2020 and 2021 seasons were shortened after lockdowns and border closures restricted movement, Stephen Chilby’s OzTruck suffered a mechanical issue in the late stages of 2020 during an off season race and so he could not attend the 2021 season opener at Wakefield Park.

2022 should be the resumption of a full Stock Cars Australia season (or as we call it Australian Stock Car Championship) and we’ll see who has the better OzTruck for 2022, it may not even be one of them when it comes to Victories.
