Stock Car Field Grows – 30/4/20

April 30 2020

A cheer went up yesterday as Stock Cars Australia announced that a new Stock Car was joining the competition.

The #9 Commodore is a Stock Car that was formerly used by Fastrack just like the #1 VT Commodore and the #41 Ford Thunderbird was used.

The #41 Ford Thunderbird has a racing history as it did compete at the Thunderdome and road courses as well.

If the #9 is raced regularly in SCA, this means that fans could see entries from ten regulars and they are

5 OzTrucks (Chilby, Burge, Burgess, Marchese and Mitchell)
4 Stock Cars (Heppleston, D. O’Hara, Z. O’Hara and Pierce)
1 GTA (Gurney)

If the likes of Trevor Crisp and Lachlan Gardner join in a round or two, there is a possibility of twelve entries and then there are the invitationals that join the field.

The possibility of 4 or 5 Stock Cars battling each other and mixing it with the GTA’s and OzTrucks in their nice, friendly, competitive and cost effective way is exciting.

Talks continue on other cars joining the field and enthusiasm is rising as news of Stock Cars Australia spreads across the Motorsport community.

Like everything else, the 2020 Stock Cars Australia season is on hold after it’s great start at Wakefield Park but there is hopes that more of the season will be conducted this year as things are getting better across Australia.
