Stock Cars Australia at the moment races Stock Cars, GTA’s and OzTrucks and the first and third ones are pretty easy to know but GTA is another story.
What is a GTA?
Those of you who are gamers or those of you who in tune with popular culture will instantly think of Grand Theft Auto, the game series that has been played for the last twenty years.
If you look up GTA Stock Cars on Google, you will actually get Grand Theft Auto V but it is nothing to do with that.
We’re still trying to find out what the G means but TA refers to Trans Am and there has been Trans Am Series racing in America since the 1960’s.
The GTA cars you see in Stock Cars Australia are a decade or so earlier version of the TA2 cars that are gaining popularity in Australia at the moment.
Stock Cars Australia and TA2 actually raced together a couple of years back before the TA2 category took off and became popular among race fans.
So there you have it, that’s what GTA is and you can see them in action six times in 2020 in Stock Cars Australia.
